Serious question, and only serious comments requested:

Person A is friends with Person B. Person A agrees to let Person B use Person A's local, which account can be accessed online. Person B runs up the tab to many dimes. Bookie knows Person B is playing the games. Person B then stiffs bookie. Is Person A responsible to pay the debt?

The minute you allow anyone to use your account you are assuming responsibility for said account. PERIOD

Yes, if person A is the owner of a password protected account (s)he is responsible for the costs incurred on that account.

Yes.........Although my local told me about a guy he continued to let play in a similar incident, where the account holder's "friend" gained access and ran it up without consent. Said he never had any problems with the guy before that, and that's probably where the decision should be based........past history....

Absolutely!! I had to pay a 7000$ debt an EX "FRIEND" ran up on a book I introduced too! So if he uses your internet to play with then for sure you are responsible!

Always a bad idea.

I had a friend put in bets through me about 10 years ago since the local we used cut him off for non payment. I would call in the plays under my name.

He swore he would make good with me no matter what. We were friends for over 15 years prior to this.

He owes me 4 dimes to this day.

I suppose my bookie is just too nice of a guy. He had a guy that won and won of him, even won $90,000 one week, the guy just kept on winning. Bookie paid him.......Weeks later the guy got down about $20,000 and never paid. MY BOOKIE LET HIM COME BACK COUPLE YEARS LATER!!

Made his limits kinda low, told him as long as he paid each week when he was down, and paid just a little something each time he won, it was ok.......

Yes. Why are you asking a question you know the answer to?

ut - if i knew the answer, i would not have posted. also, it is apparent that some books write off the debt and move on. if you have an opinion on the subject, great. if not, simply stay out of the thread.

The answer is yes, but a better point to be made is what to do with people who stiff you.I'd sell a kidney before I stiffed anyone, but I've said goodbye to 2 people(friends) this year on account of getting stiffed...Not a ton of money, less than a grand, but the principle to me far outweighs the amount of money.

IDENTITY - Fair enough. I can't see any answer other than YES, player A is on the hook. I don't know any bookmakers who would write off that loss, unless they could not collect from 'A'.
