If he could have extended it another foot breaking the plane would it have been a TD or an incomplete pass? It looked to me like he had possession but the rules are the rules. So if he would have been 1 foot closer to the goal line would it be deemed an incomplete pass?

en ven in the end zone, the key here is " maintain the foot ball"

This is the official rule on receptions in the NFL:

"If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent), he must maintain control of the ball after he touches the ground, whether in the field of play or the end zone. If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, the pass is incomplete. If he regains control prior to the ball touching the ground, the pass is complete."

Basically what that means is simple. If a player goes to the ground while in the process of making a catch, he must control the ball all the way through until his momentum from the fall ends. If at any point before his momentum stops he loses control of the ball and it touches the ground, the pass is incomplete.

if he hit the ground in the endzone it would still be incomplete. The ground hit the hall out of his hands = incomplete,

the problem is that everyone is letting their bet cloud their vision, in general. I think an objective viewer would tell you--after reading the NFL rule--that it wasn't a catch. either way--crazy

It is not a TD if he does not maintain possession after hitting the ground. Remember the Megatron catch (clear TD by the eye ball test) a couple years ago started all this mess (or at least brought it to the forefront for the ESPN talking heads)

I thought it was the right call, but I am viewing this (as many of us are) through ro$e colered glassed -- I had second half under and that cashed me in. Wonder what I would be saying if I had the Over

yes, but he did not maintain possession. Because he was on the way to the ground and the the ground hit the ball out, it was not maintained. Hence, incomplete. Personally I needed GB -5.5 so I lost regardless. Had I been on Dallas my reaction would be the same. Much unlike last weeks PI call.
