Question about protecting your computer

I have spysweeper which always detects the trojans n stuff right away and stops them. It has been the only one that has worked for me. Norton virus protection didn't do jack to remove them so I stopped updating that one. I would say Spysweeper is awesome for that.

But my question is, do I need anything else to protect me from other virus's and hackers? Does spysweeper help with that too? Or do I need a firewall to protect my information(I don't even know what that is)? The way I've always thought is if someone wants my info it's all over the net anyway....not that hard to go and find it.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Ad-Aware (free version)
Norton
Automatic updates from MicroSoft Update website

Run them all a couple of times a day

That's where the good stuff is,but beware of nasty things, install the firewall and get it up and running before u go there.. Also, when U do a search and get results u will get a pop up asking u to download somthing, always keep clicking the X when it comes up, it may come up like 3-4 times, but always click X and then u will get what u want, if u know what I mean!
