does anybody here have their own health insurance plan. what i mean is that you dont have one thru work but pay for it yourself.

i dont have a "real job" so i have my own insurance.

it is just me and my 9 year old daughter.

my wife, her mother passed away 8 years ago from brain cancer, so i know the importance of having health insurance.

just wondering what kind of plans anybody has and what they pay.

i pay $ 240.00 a month for us. has all the normal deductables. but thought their might be some better deals out there.

thanks for any info.

240 a month is great for 3 people. I pay 540 a month for myself through Cigna.

I pay $140 a month but am switching to one with
less paperwork and hassle. Big deductible but and
after they pay everything.

$240.00 a month for 3 is a good price. The things you need to know are

1.Can they cancel you with 30 days notice?
2. Is pregnancy covered? I doubt it at that price.
Price and product has a lot to do with area of country you live and how populated the area.

Bottom line Health insurance is to protect you against catastrophic
if you are young and in good health think along the lines of how many times you visit the doctor in a years time. I will bet it is much less than the premium you pay. You can find policys with large deductibles that are very inexpensive, but at $240. you have a good premium.

the $ 240.00 a month is for me ( 42 year old healthy , non-smoking male) and my 9 year old daughter. thats 2 , not 3 people..

i would have to read the fine print about any type of cancellation policy.

pregnancy is not an issue.

For that premium, it seems like a decent deal but there are unknowns about your plan like deductibles, lifetime maximums, etc. and the ability to use a non-network doctor.

I have Blue Cross and 8 years ago it was $80. I have not one single claim that they paid for and now it is $248. Incredible, I have been saying for the last 3 years that I need to change, just have not done so yet.
