It is called propping when a site pays a player to play at a site. You usually get like 125% rakeback.
Poker is not chess. You can not program the perfect poker playing bot. I would be more than happy to sit at a table full of bots
PKJ, thanks for the term "propping". That was what I wanted to use, but I couldn't dredge the word out of my mind.
Yeah, those proppers usually played rake-free & as well as something in form of cash payment. The "simple" 125% rakeback deal sounds about exactly right.
I agree that I don't mind playing bots because I'd know how they would react (knowing which statistically-optimal play the bots would choose) based on what I do, and I would counter with some unpredictability yet still making decisions that may pan out in long run.
If the bots are programmed to make some unexpected plays & playing outside their parameters just to throw us off, then what's the difference between them and real humans who already behave that way?
PKJ, that was a good analogy about chess as programming poker is definitely more more complicated than programming chess-- I'm just guessing this based on how many more variables are in the game of poker, especially at a full ring table (unlike chess, which is just a heads' up game).
