Question about LAL ML vs buying down the points?

At Olympic the Lakers ML is -550 but Lakers -8 buy it down to -1/2 and it's -400 or buy 9.5 to +1.5 and it's -520.

What am I missing?

WILL, THOUGHT EVERY 1/2 PT WAS AN EXTRA 10% JUICE...SO IF LINE 8 AND WAS TO BUY TO 7 WOULD BE THE REG 110 AND THEN EXTRA 20 OR 130 ...WHAT AM I MISSING ABOUT BUYING TO 1/2 AND BEING 400..WOULDN'T IT JUST BE 250?

Truthfully, I don't know. Some guy over in the bookie forum says it's just the software not figuring correctly. I quess...but I I'm surprised if that's it, the way people swarm for the slightess value. Anybody with an Olympic acct check my numbers but I got the Lakers -1 for -360.

When you get past buying 2 to 2.5 points, the vig accelerates. Buy 2.5 pts for -160, but buy 3 pts for -180, eventually it gets to 40 cents per half point.

THANX OLDDOG...NEVER BUY MORE THAN 1/2 PT IN HOOPS ANYWAY BUT THATS GOOD INFO TO KNOW...HOWEVER LUCKLY MY $ WAS ON DETROIT + 8 AND WAS EZ WINNER...ALL THOSE WHO BOUGHT DOWN MADE BAD CHOICE...INTERESTING GAME 2 ON TUESDAY...MAYBE LAKERS TURN IT AROUND BUT STILL DON'T THINK THEY COVER.
