I am not seeming to understand why Bush is getting all the blame for the economy. I was young when he got elected about 12yrs old and im still young in experience when i analysis politics. One thing I can't seem to understand is why is it Bush that is getting all the blame. Doesn't the Congress and Senate have to vote on every bill. Don't they have the right to vote against a bill brought up by George Bush. I would go find some information on this but it would take too long. Many of my professors blame Bush but I never say anything back because I do not have a strong argument. Can someone break down why the failing economy is or is not the fault of George W. Bush?!!

Thanks RXers:toast:

Yeah but so what he proposed it. It still has to get passed and the Congress passed it. So how is it only Bush's fault

Because the POTUS gets credit or blame for everything. Political opponents lie, rewrite history, their enablers in the press simply pass it on and we the people absorb it as the truth.

Democrats who actually opposed the 1997 budget that gave rise to budget surplus actually take credit for it's successes today at the expense of Republicans.

Why can they? because the President who signed such budget was a Democrat and the enablers in the media never correct them by saying something like, "you voted against that budget".

It's all bullshit all the time

When this was put before Congress, the Senate, and the American people, it was shortly after 9/11. Bush made it appear as though it would be anti-American to go against this war as he tied it into terrorism and 9/11.

Furthermore, he lied to everybody about these "weapons of mass destruction" that Saddam Hussien did not have.

That is how he got the votes.

Fletch, read that thread and tell me how I feel about the POTUS and the economy, it should be very very clear.

The truth is below the surface, gtcfletch.

I agree, but you must also agree that that is a two way street.

Both parties do that, they always have and they always will.

I was kinda wondering the same thing as the OP. Is "W" responsible for the global economic slowdown as well? The mortgage crisis-making loans to underqualified borrowers so they can buy a house they can't afford and we can feel good about ourselves?

I get that he is the quarterback and therefore gets more blame and credit than he deserves.

DD27, there's another great example of re-writing history without being challenged. They now say they were hoodwinked by Bush into removing Saddam, and Bush lied about how dangerous Saddam was. The facts about what they were saying before Bush became President is simply swept under the rug, and their enablers in the media are stepping on that rug. They flat out refuse to tell the truth.
