And the funniest thing I heard was they were going to reach out to alum and former ILB Kevin Sumlin. Now I know Summy likes the Indy 500, but why would he leave College Station where there is talented HS players all around him, he's competing in the SEC, and being paid like a rock star?

Purdue job is for advancing MAC coaches. No one else would want it.

Maybe the PJ Fleck of Western Michigan would take it. I'd hold out for better though

Not in a million years would he take that job. He will have his choice of openings and would be perfect for a place like Baylor.

Well deserved imo, team did not show up in the first half and on homecoming it had to be done. Very little defensive effort, in the first half they were making Iowa look like Brady & the Pats at one point were 7/7 on 3rd downs. Almost had the back door were it nor for Blough's late pick 6.

he should have stayed at kent state, was building a solid program and left for a very difficult place to win.. if he finished what he started at Kent could have had better opportunities.

Exactly. And look for the trend of proven mid-major coaches to bottom-tier P5 programs to stop for good. It's the worst decision a mid-major coach can make because it could kill your career. Although Hazell did get a pay day of sorts from Purdue, he'll now need to re-start at another mid-major or below. Suppose it depends on the individual though, some may be willing to risk having to re-start as long as they get their initial pay day.
