So my question would be... Does the platinum have too much. Of something ? That I don't need, and like you said, the gold is good enough.

I'd be lying if I said I knew and listed "here is the difference." I started really getting into lifting about 5 years and like most gamblers I kind of have an obsessive compulsive attitude and when I do something, I really do it. So I did a lot of research on supplements and protein. Even the really serious lifters/bodybuilders like 99% of the time bought one protein or the other based on taste. If you Google which protein to buy almost all forums base their reviews on overall taste no matter where you look. Maybe I'm used to it but I really like (ok, really like is a stretch but don't mind the taste) of the ON Whey double choc and regular choc. It's also not the cheapest protein but it's not the most expensive either. Great reviews and a lot of customers use it.

Another poster mentioned Snytha-6 and I tried that once for a couple months because a review said how great it was. I didn't love the taste nor did I notice anything different so I went back to ON Whey.

really dumb question...
whats the point of these?

Great source of protein without a lot of calories and easy to drink. Meaning I don't need to eat 3 chicken breasts I can simply down a shake. And it's "pure" protein so some think it recovers your muscles better (like right after lifting). Ease of use is a big reason too. I only drink one in the morning and right after lifting.

I've done Gaspari peanut butter cookie dough for the last couple of years...and it's nice. I did their Cinnamon Roll before that.
Both are pretty delish...but I always use skim milk. Gives you 10+ grams of protein.
I haven't drank one in 3 mths though, and can't tell a difference.

it helps preserve muscles that you just worked out. You honestly feel like a million dollars after drinking one after working out IMO. Really does nothing if you don't workout with it. Also is a perfect after workout meal to take away hunger until dinner or whatever.

so its to replace a meal?

Not really.

it just helps you reach your protein goal of .8 to 1.5 grams of protein per day per pound of body weight that most lifters try to reach depending on which one of those targets they subscribe to.

But if you can manage to hit those protein goals without powder while still staying in the proper calorie range it is completely unnecessary

On another note... Pre workout drinks is why I opened this thread. Just saw the new HBO Real Sports episode about Energy boosting supplements like Craze which was linked to Meth...and N.O Explode and Jack3d and that shit. Bunch of criminals with serious records making these supplements. Shit doesn't need to be approved to be sold at a GNC.

Protein will full you up, eat enough of it takes the hunger away. A little work out is an added plus.

like I said in another thread. I'm trying to eat healthy, some working out stuff, weights, walking, etc.

there are a couple of good protein bars too. Found one with 0 grams of sugar

It's hard to say how many people get the correct amount of protein with just real food.

but you would have to be a macro logger to know.
If I do drink a protein shake it's always at the end of the day when I'm bumped real close to my calorie limit and I'm low on protein.

I will take the powder with water.

I hope. But the point is if criminals can make these supplements and get them into stores....how safe is the next one? One dude was selling weight loss pills filled with pesticide. Same dude who made Craze. These guys are still in the dietary supplement industry lol. I recommend staying away from any type of pre workout drink. Eat a banana

which brand?

for me the Quest protein bars are brilliant. Not a massive caloric load (180-210 cal), good protein amount (20g), tastes crazy good !!(various flavours, they use the polyols) approx 15g of fiber- this is huge. Recommended daily dose of dietary fiber for men is 38 g, as per Institute of Medicine. The bar gets you nearly 50% of your daily requirement

One of the best natural highs is a great workout, a great protein shake with your shirt off on a sunny hot day. It is like the sun is basking in your glory.....
