Only problem Fish...

The payouts printed are far higher than books (including Vegas) want to pay!

My bad... I looked closer and found that you can change the payouts to hose the players!

Also, very important reminder to all when dealing with parlay cards to know the difference between the words FOR and TO.

For instance:

$10 at 6 FOR 1 nets the player $50 profit.
$10 at 6 TO 1 nets the player $60 profit.

If I had a son, I would have him in the bookie business no later than his 14th birthday.

On average, roughly 8-12 cards will be winners and you will hold anywhere from 20-30% on the total take over the long haul.

I would have guessed a higher return Fish...thanks for info

Look at it this way JMAN.

If EVERYBODY played the minimum teams which is a 3-team parlay on the card, a 3 teamer has roughly only a 1 in 8 chance of winning.

Divide 100 cards by 8 and you get only 12.5 winning cards per 100...........and that like I said is if EVERYBODY plays only 3 teamers.

You will have others wagering 4-10 teams per card which will lower the 12.5 figure mentioned above.

Fish I was talking about 4 team and up parlay cards...I have never seen a 3 team parlay card...not that I am a big parlay card player anyway...around here they are 4 teams and up...

Also I was thinking a small percentage would play higher than 4 teams, or in your example 3 teamers...obviously the odds are cut and dry if they're all the same...I was asking for an overall example, based on the average parlay card bookie...

With a 4-team minimum, your going to have very very few winning cards per 100.

If EVERYBODY just played the minimum 4 teams, you would not average 7 winning cards per 100 cards.......then factor in all the people betting 5-10 teams and you can see that the bookie is not paying on many cards.

Again, depending on the payoffs, the bookie will hold more than 23% on the total take on these cards over the longhaul.

Don't forget TIES LOSE. In the NFL most games are on the key numbers of 3, 4, 7 10 and 14.

Also, a 3 teamer on "bar" parlay cards pays 5 for 1. Big ripoff buy everyone plays them.

In Vegas, with some cards showing weak numbers and fairly higher than normal payouts, wiseguys can manipulate them in such a way as to put themselves into a winning situation over the longhaul.

There is a misconception though that you can get a good line after a major move cause it is still on the card. Then people find out they take that game off the card as well.Example last year I was working and Saturday morning there was a several point move on a Texas Tech game and people came out in droves looking to still bet it on the parlay card but it was taken down already.

NICK- It has become increasingly harder as the years have passed on finding these.

At least from my vantage point, possibly not for a few others.
