Problems with my 2 week old Direct TV HDDVR (grey screen and freezes up all the time)

Just got my HD DVR box model hr21-100 and I've been having problems with this POS almost every day. It will freeze up and goto a grey screen, then it won't reboot. It get's to a certain point and never goes to load the data from the satellite. I have tried every reboot imaginable, pulled the card many times, nothing help. I'm thinking it's a POS bug box. I'm gonna call Rahji in south east Kuwait city tomorrow and see if he pisses me off enough to shoot my brains out tomorrow.


Anyone else have this problem?

Prepare for eight hours of tech support with someone you can't really understand who doesn't really know what they are doing. Only after that will DTV come to replace/fix anything.

I have done a "hard boot" (un-plug) and that didn't work.. After a half hour or so all I get is that BS that's read off the card (Pay per view stuff) I can change the channels after a while, but I get no menu and sometimes I get a gret screen with a little box in the top right corner showing the actual show I'm watching..This has been happenning on and off for the past 10 or so days. I'm thinking it's a faulty POS box. :fckmad:

you know I was doing some research on getting the DVR so I could have access to direct tv's on demand service

well....let me tell you....I started reading up on these guys

and AS SOON AS I CAN CANCEL (my contract is up in may 09) Im done with them

not only did I read that they have the right to debit your credit card on file without your permission whenever they please

THEY ALSO send out broke recievers ON PURPOSE

why you might ask?....why would they send out faulty equipment??

because EVERY TIME YOU GET A RECEIVER REPLACED ITS A AUTOMATIC CONTRACT RENEWAL

2 years for a DVR box....and 1 year for a HD or standard receiver

of course they dont mention this to you when you send back their piece of shit box

this happen to me earlier this year....they sent me a "new" box....because of one that broke down on me

then I call in a few months asking about my contract and they said it was renewed because I activated a "new" receiver

lmfao....guess what though...I LOOKED ON THE BOTTOM OF THE RECEIVER AND I SEEN A STICKER ON IT THAT SAID "RECONDITONED"

so bascially to sum it up....Direct tv is sending out faulty equipment so when it breaks down and you have to trade it in...you are locked in for some more years

and dont even try to cancel during your contract period....oh man...I read some HORROR stories last night

I am seriously going to videotape all 3 of my receivers working and the barcodes on the back before I send them in when I cancel so they dont try and pull some shit like "oh they're broken that will be $1000"

Im also going to report my credit card lost right before I cancel so they have no valid credit cards on file when I cancel

and I will make sure to send their receivers back fed ex with the tracking numbers that showed direct tv received them

I mean when I heard they have the right to debit your card without your permission that was enough for me

yeah had that a copule moths ago, your box is done for, you need a new one. they will try to charge you $19.95 shipping for the replacement, tell them to go fuck themselves in a nice way and that you want that taken off your bill.
