I agree with all that, he is in a position to be considered among the elite college football coaches and with 2 national championships, maybe 3, he'll have great recruitment for years to come.
However, as we all know is true in sports, C.R.E.A.M.

IIRC, Pete makes around 3 mil at USC. He could probably make close to DOUBLE that in the NFL. I would assume that USC is willing to make him the highest paid college coach over Charlie Weis, so you gotta assume in renegotiations he could get around 4 mil
I wouldn't be surprised if he jumps ship in a few years or less and takes the extra 30%+ pay raise to work in the NFL. Sure, he could stay at USC and cement his legacy, but the guy already has 2 national championships in 3 years and is going for 3 in 4. He will be revered at USC for years to come.
The people in sports who care more about legacy than cash are few and far between. Karl Malone and the Glove come to examples recently who took pay cuts to play on a team they thought would win them a championship. But most players and coaches will take the extra cash, legacy, history and success notwithstanding.
We'll see which type of person Pete is, soon enough
