Just going over some of my early numbers thus far, looks the SEC seems to have extended their lead over the PAC12, just a bit. The PAC and BIG12 are very a very similar #2 and #3 once again, while the ACC & BIG10 are too are almost too close to call once again. There is a big dropoff from #5 to #6, I suppose that is to be expected with the new rules in place. Looks like CUSA has fallen quite below the MWC and even the MAC has closed the gap on them as well.

1. SEC 87.51
2. PAC12 83.27
3. BIG12 82.06
4. ACC 79.89
5. BIG10 79.66
6. AAC 68.85
7. MWC 66.97
8. CUSA 64.95
9. MAC 64.20
10. SBC 62.27

I would like to see some games between the MAC and Sun Belt teams.

Guessing they would be fairly competitive and entertaining.

*Big Ten should be named the Big Two...wish they would invite Vanderbilt to join their conference.
Vandy would be competitive in that conference with Purdue, Indiana, Maryland, Rutgers, Iowa, etc.

True that MAC vs SBC would be more of a "fair fight" rather than the typcal SEC or Big 10 vs MAC that we usually get. Although teams in the SEC need OOC cupcakes because of their brutal conference schedules and these bottom feeders need pay days so I guess it serves a prupose, albeit a not so great experience for the football fans. I was anti-MAC last year and tried to avoid their games as much as possible after a few bad experiences, however they do look a little better this season, 6 of those MAC teams have 15 or more returning starters and every team except Miami appears to be returning their QB as well. Speaking of QBs, Zach Terrell from Western Mich finished #6 in overall FBS QB rating last season. Bowling Green gets Matt Johnson back from injury and in Steele's MAC Unit ratings he has 4 teams tied for first in QB ranking (Northern Ill, Bowling Green, Western Mich, and Umass). With some of these teams that can score, points will come a plenty increasing the chances for the back door cover. That being said any time you are taking a 3 TD+ dog it can a dicey situation and something I don't want to get in a habit of doing.

Big Ten is solid at the top but the middle of the conference is weak. I think ACC should be #5 but that's just nitpicking. I heard a phrase that has stuck with me, the quality of a conference is measured by how many teams can realistically contend for a national championship. Based on this, I think SEC has 4-6 such teams, Pac 12 2-3, Big XII 1-3, Big 10 1-2, ACC 1.

I'm thinking the ACC is on the rise. FSU, Clemson and now Louisville are threats to have big seasons this year and beyond. If Miami could ever get a coach down there who could take advantage of all the great high school talent in the area, they could return to prominence. Virginia Tech looks to be on the rebound. Most folks don't realize the number of players the ACC puts in the NFL every year. Problem is most are from the same few schools. Got to recruit...name of game.

I'd like to see some games where a SEC or one of those southern ACC teams go north when it is frigging cold and rainy.

Or, one of those hot shot northern teams come down south and play in 92 degrees heat for a 2 p.m kickoff with 100 percent humidity. Yeah, that's the ticket!
