Not quite sold on Bellicheck and Fisher at the very top. Think Holmgren is too high for what he has not accomplished in Seattle. Herm Edwards i would bump up a notch, think very highly of him. Martz is a jackass who is below average. Wannstedt is average at best.

Do not think highly of Jauron or Erickson at all. However I think Del Rio will develop nicely.

Fox, Lewis and Tice have done great jobs this year and are on the march up.

Sacred cows. well, Marty may be going to slaughter soon. I think he is average to good but not even near the top. Spurrier..stubburn jackass. Will be out of the league this season. Mariucci has his chance to prove how good he is. Cowher, does more with less year in and year out, with the exception of this year. Reeves will drop dead on a sideline at some point.

I am high on both Bellicheck and Fisher off what they have done so far this year, on top of SB appearances in the 2000's. Holmgren gets props for what looks like a nice turn around job in Seattle, Martz is a mystery, like his team. I originally had Edwards on level 2, but after thinking about the loss to the Eagles yesterday and his 2-5 record this year, I reluclantly moved him down, I like him also. Level 3 is average, where you are right, Wannstadt belongs. The level 4 group is the only place to put Del Rio, who shows potential, but has yet to win his 2nd game. The Sacred Cows are all different stories, which I will not go into here. Tice could go into the suprize group with Fox, and Lewis.

I'd move Mike Sherman down to level 4 or lower. This guy has no brains or balls.
He did a poor job in retaining some key free agents. He still has the talent but he does not know how to make them gel.
He cannot fire this team up!! Remember the Jets game at the end of last year's regular season, I can't remember seeing a playoff bound team that flat, and to carry that level of emotion into the first wildcard game and get slaughtered by the Falcons (athome).
Lets see how he can prepare the Pack this week (after a bye week) for a revenge game against the Vikings. He taking this team and flushing it down the toilet.
I guess you can see who my team is and I am not a bandwagon guy, but I am ready to boycott the Pack until Sherman is replaced.

I have always factored in the Coaches, more so this year. None of these are idiots and all know football better than me and possibally the rest of you. I think the pressure and speed of discision seperates them.

All seem to play the numbers but, like gamblers, some have a better understanding of risk to loss value.

In that context your list is about right, Fisher, Parcells being superior. I think some of your mid-tier coaches are prone to panicking too early or too late in games. Edwards is great to follow as when he thinks they have no chance, he actually opens up the play book. Conversely, if he thinks they have a good match-up he plays way too conservatly.

Nice thread, Wilheim

This list is way off. Tice deserves to be up there and Mariucci shouldn't be as low as he is. I mean the guy inherited a bad team, he isn't really that bad. He turned San Fran around, look at them now without him.
