A short recap of the autistic kid: An autistic high school kid-never played a second of high school ball-gets into a game for about 5 minutes and, because of his performance, became a source of inspiration for millions of people and meets the President of the United States. Talk about longshots. It's truly an incredible story.

All things considered, I have to say Miracle on Ice. That game was just flat out HUGE, and nobody gave them the slightest of chances.

that sums it all up.

If you think how far we have come technology wise and training in every sport and for these records to stil stand are incredibile.

I still think the greatest ESPN sports century is the one they did on Secretariat and they said when they did an autopst on him that his heart was 2.5 times larger than an average racehorse. They said he just had a bigger engine. A freak of nature!!!!

By the way, that autopsy caused people to go out and ultrasound yearlings for their heart size and buy based on it. How did it work out? Horribly, there is no discernable impact to having that larger heart, in fact in some cases an enlarged heart is a hindrance to aerobic performance....Sec was just unique, heart size out of the equation. Well built and very sound.

As a horse racing fan, I love the Secretariat clips (the Preakness is the most awesome for me--I've never seen a horse make a move like that going into the backstretch and win--hell, I don't think I've ever seen a horse make a move like that going into the backstretch period), but I think Willis Reed should definitely be in this thread.

And, with all due respect to Boston fans, but the 6th game of the 86 World Series always gets me going, even today.

Hard to imagine feeling these kinds of feelings again (I'm probably just getting old), but who knows? Maybe when the Jets win the Super Bowl....
