I am curious, tourist industry seems essential to Hawaii. If world economies twist oil (speculative or not) price to where fuel costs make flights to Hawaii prohibitive, does that worry you?

Tourism used to be the #1 industry here...i think it has moved down a bit but is still very essential to Hawaii. It worries a lot of people but personally, it will not affect me (for now). I work as an accountant (people need) for 90% Medical practices (people need). The main thing that will get me is that it will cost a hell of a lot more for me to go places.

Any one of the dogshit pickup franchises. The rx entrepreneurs did the math and you can make $50/hour doing it.

Yes, charge according to yard and dog sizes, number of dogs. Iceman is the expert.

The surfer/van thing sounds good.

Natives need to worry about the cost of living there as does the military.

How about an L&L? j/k

Daily Grind is a franchise coffee chain that seems to do well in SoCal. I have also seen them in other parts of the country when traveling.

Do you guys have Dunkin' Donuts in Hawaii? They are finally making their way to the west coast and I think they won't be a fad like Krispy Kreme was. DD's coffee a strong draw even for non-donut eaters.

I would rather go with McDonalds than with Subway although it might be a little bit more expensive. If you take a look at Subway franchise experiences you can see that some more or less big problems occurred. It sounds pretty easy buying a franchise but just because you get the know-how and the reputation of the company doesn't mean that it will be a guaranteed hit but I wish you the best of luck for your attempt.
