Poor Matt LeCroy today.

Houston stole 7 base and he made 2 thowing errors on him today. (Espn just mentioned it on the scrolling scoreboard.) I'm guessing they got nine bases on him. He had to be taken out of the game. uppy:

Pride of Clemson Baseball circa 1997 or so. He was a mediocre college catcher. Can't imagine a big league team putting him out in the field. Better learn to play first base a bit better or head to the AL for DH duty.

Couple things about this:
1) It's LeCroy.
2) I was actually at the game, and when Fick came out to replace him, it was the first and maybe only time I'll ever see two fully dressed catchers on the field at the same time.
3) People were talking shit about LeCroy, but the fact is that he ISN'T a true catcher. If I remember correctly, he has played 1B and DH predominantly since entering the league. He just gets thrown in there every so often because Schneider(one of the best defensive catchers in the game) is injured, and Wiki Gonzalez has really struggled recently.
4) The catcher who replaced him, Fick, isn't a true catcher either and is about as bad as LeCroy...they just never got the chance to run on him.

LeCroy's a favorite of mine just because he looks like a fat, drunk bastard...but he was truly awful today, no doubt. Pitchers also didn't do anything to help him, very slow to the plate.

Bottom line: we need Schneider back ASAP.

Schneider is out, Wiki's been struggling badly, so it fell on LeCroy.

And yeah, I've never seen anything like it. Nor will I probably ever again, for any reason other than injury.
