Texas HC Charlie Strong was questioned about whether he was aware of Arkansas HC Bret Bielema comments about the end of the Texas-Arkansas Bowl game last season. With Arkansas up 31-7 late in the 4th quarter, the Hogs kneeled on the ball at the Texas goal line to run out the clock. Bielema call it "borderline erotic".

Apparently Charlie did not think much of that comment. His response to the question about the quote was this: "Yeah, just walk into our locker room. They're posted". Unfortunately for Charlie, things did not quite turn out the way he wanted them to. According to Texas RB Johnathan Gray, Charlie gave every player a sheet of paper with the quote on it. Gray said that the players just threw the papers in the trash. I wonder if Charlie knows the words to the famous song "Desperado", because he sure is getting desperate.

If that happened, sounds like Texas has a bigger culture problem than I thought. The players sound soft and lacking in self-respect. Getting punked by an average SEC team and then the mouthy coach basically calling your team pornographic material doesn't get you pissed off? No wonder this guy has gotten rid of so many players.

I totally disagree. Coaches can bring reactions like that upon themselves. It is obvious that Charlie is trying to throw his weight around, playing dictator instead of head coach, and is getting the reaction that one would expect out of today's players. Arkansas was a bit above average, shutting out both LSU and Ole Miss at home at the end of last season. Texas was a slightly below average team in a conference that got shut out of the Playoffs. They were 7 1/2 point dogs to Arkansas in the Texas Bowl. They got blown out by a team that many predicted to finished 7th and last in the SEC West. Charlie should have not made such a big deal about the comments. He should have simply acknowledged the truth. Texas got their arses handed to them. Texas was held to 2 yards rushing and 59 yards in total. It was a disgusting performance by the Longhorns and demonstrated that the team could care less about the game. That is on the HC. Obviously Charlie learned NOTHING from that game. He is a terrrible HC and will not last too much longer at Texas. remember he already made excuses for his team before last season even began, saying that Texas would eventually challenge for a NC, just not in the near future. The players do NOT lack in self respect. They simply do not respect Charlie, nor should they.

I'm not sure how you can call Charlie Strong a bad HC when he took over a Louisville program that was in the dumper and then took them to 7-6, 7-6, 11-2 & 12-1 seasons. He has also been very good at finding and developing good talent. Louisville had 10 players drafted by the NFL in 2015, and all of them were Charlie Strong recruits. So I'm not sure where the bad coach stuff comes from. But consider the source of who's saying it. Having said that, he is up against it at UT because of the racial overtones that go on down there and very few of the Horns honks wanting him to succeed. This is his biggest battle, and one that I have a feeling he's going to end up losing. It's like Rich Rod when he went to Michigan. No matter how good of a coach you may be, your not going to succeed if they don't want you there. My guess is Strong will be looking for a MAC job in a couple of years. And of course any team he coaches will tear up that conference....sigh

I have said it many times, they had to settle for Strong. He was not at the top of their list. I do not see him restoring the program. A lot of spoiled athletes down there and not too conducive to the kind of discipline Strong is selling. Keep in mind that Strong has not faced HC's like he will be facing in the Big 12. It will be a challenge for sure. He has to raise himself up a level along with his players.

Go, you stupid Liberal idiot, get off your high Left Wing Horse and smell the coffee. Save your BS for your own site, which has a readership of 3. Everyone knows that you think that chaches like Charlie can do no wrong. Well, you ignorant fool, here is what you and the other know-it-alls fail to understand. If Charlie had made a big deal about a statement that an opposing head coaches IN HIS OWN CONFERENCE made, he would have a right to do what he did. But this statement was attributed to the HC of Arkansas, the team who kicked Texas's tail from Houston back to Austin. In case Charlie (or you, for that matter) do not know, Arkansas is in the SEC, a REAL Conference, not some phony conference who has a 12 in their name but only 10 teams. You know, the conference that was 2-5 in their bowl games last season including 3 losses as the chalk. That after a 3-4 effort in their bowl games the year before.

He definitely wasn't at the top of the list. But the problem was Saban and Meyer weren't avaliable, and Charlie had just as good of a resume as the rest of the leftovers. Personally I think this guy is the real deal. He had some stifling defenses when he was coordinator at South Carolina before he went to work for that idiot Ron Zook at Florida. But like you said, it's all about attitude at Texas. If they don't change he's not going to be successful. But I doubt that the power brokers down there will give him enough time to make his mark. This year, possibly next, and that's it. I think the winning standards are a little higher for Strong than it would be for a "different" coach...

Some people don't get it! Bottom line: Charlie Strong is a defensive mastermind, and given a chance (not all coaches at high profile schools get a fair shake), he will have Texas football easily in top ten discussions very soon. For those who think he is a "terrible" coach, then wow, you know less about football then one would have thought.

Most people don't know this but Strong is from Batesville, Arkansas. He played football at Central Arkansas and then got into the LONG grind of college coaching. The man has paid his dues and worked himself up the ladder, especially as a solid defensive man. Outhouse pointed that out in the above post. He was successful his first term as head coach at Louisville...no doubt about that. What happens at Texas...I wouldn't bet $20 either way.

He's a good coach at the wrong school....my take and I'm sticking to it.

I agree. Not sure where all the hate is coming from for Charlie. He was brought into a tough situation left behind by Mack. He's got to clean it up. It may take some time....especially if they can't find a QB. I'll tell you this; many Gator fans would have rather he got the job than Muschamp (5 years ago). Also, if UF had fired Muschamp when they should have (after year 3) then Charlie was the top candidate. He coached at UF under Spurrier, Zook, and Meyer.

Charlie paid his dues as an assistant (and even complained he wasn't getting a fair shot at a head coaching gig because of his white wife). He has/had as good a resume as any assistant in all of college football when he was finally hired at Louisville. He turned Louisville around and left the program in great shape for Petrino.

I wouldn't be surprised to see an 8-4 season in Austin with a good outlook towards 2016.

I do agree w/ our resident blowhard, Bigdaddy, that it was stupid to make a big deal out of what the Arkansas coach said.

I'm not quite getting your point. It's desperate for a coach to fire up his team with bulletin board material? That has been going on for years and years.

And I would assume the players would throw away the papers. If someone posted "your mom's a whore" on a sheet of paper on your fridge, would you keep it around? or throw it away in anger?
