In addition to the Clarion, I've played 1/2 at the Colonial, Europa, and Cariari. Not sure if the Horseshoe is doing poker these days or not...

RE: Shark Food at Crown Royal Hotel

I'm not a poker player myself, but the other night I was having dinner with my Girlfriend at the Crown Royal Hotel, it is located near the corner of the La Bana Sur Park, or right on the main Piso or hiway going to the airport.

Anyway, we sat down for dinner in one of the main casino's and after all my years living in Vegas, and being around some really really great poker players, I couldn't help but be struck by how I was sitting next to a table of poker playing squares. It was so obvious most didn't have a clue, and there were several orni-mentals there too for the taking.

So I would say, if your good, that would be one of the first places I would go.

By the way, the dinner was excellent, I had the breast of (pojo) with mushrooms and the sauce that the chef came up with was so good he could have put an acorn on my plate and it would have tasted great. It was some kind of avacoado pured with lemon juice, olive oil sprinkled with black pepper. Awesome.

Anyway, there is plenty of chum for any Poker Sharks at the Crown Royal Hotel and Casino.

Are there any larger games being played on a regular basis like a 5-10 no limit or (what we call a round of each - hold'em and Omaha)?

$2/5 at Clarion Amon, and sometimes $5/10 at the Whitehouse.

Although in my opinion, action is more important than limits here. Go where the action is.

Action certainly wasn't at Corobici last Saturday though. Maybe it was all at the Crown Royal Hotel?

Adam, the Corobici Hotel was bought out. It's the Crown Plaza now. AKA Crown Royal Hotel, lol.

Everything is pretty much the same except the lobby bar has been updated.

The Crown Plaza usually has action especially after 5pm. Colonial is hit or miss, just like Horseshoe which is looking for a buyer right now. Clarion has games going most everyday starting at 3pm. Radisson no longer offers hold em, and the White House can get pricey with 2k buy-ins. I had no idea Europa and Cariari had poker. Does Fiesta offer it too?

fiesta got rid of their poker room i believe

There are several Fiesta casinos. Fiesta Garden Court Alajuela no longer has poker. (They had a huge room for it, had decent tournaments for a while, but just didn't manage it well).

Fiesta Herradura Ramada Plaza Hotel (Cariari) has poker. Had some small tournament the one time I stopped by there, but I didn't stay for the cash game.

I've never been there... Is that the one right next to the Double Tree?

Played the CR Hold'Em Champoinship again on Friday, had the worst 3 beats of my life during one sit down. Should have won all three. Poker...

First day I got to the final table and lost to another shit hand and finished out of the money in 10th place.

Funny, if you hit them large and fast you honestly can sit on your winnings and simply pay the blinds to make the final table. I of course like the game to much and play to the bitter end.

Since its still fresh in my mind. It should be said that the vast majority play percentage holdem down here and are scared to bluff. In saying that, they get super pissed of if you call them out on a week hand, call or bluff. Its kind of funny actually.
