Please don't post alternate sites for books under DDoS attacks

The piece-of-shit assholes behind these attacks will simply shut them down - that'll probably happen anyway, since I'd bet money these punks have (or know someone) an acct at the books and could call to get the alt site anyway - but at least it might take longer.

Case in point: Canbet gave me an alt site this morning, though they did so WITHOUT requesting my account and password, and I was able to get in and do what I needed to before the site went down again, probably because they gave it out to a hacker unknowingly.

What would be the point of requesting your account and password ?

Could they verify that information while under attack ?

Yes they could... DDoS attacks usually affect the marketing websites, but not the internal systems.

With the $ these books make, you would think they could invest in some more pipe or colocate somewhere with large, redundant pipes, and intelligent switches that can autoblock DoS attacks....

btw, I don't think posting alternate sites make much of a difference.... think about it, these guys can just as easily call the 800 # to get the alternate site, whether they have an account or not (as someone previously posted).

If posting the alternate site helps a few of us get our bets in I'm all for it...

Jazz _ I was able to get into DB with no problems.They also have an alternate site as well.

I think DB was maybe just having some tech problems earlier but it didn't affect me as I got right in.

Good post Jazz. A nice request to the players. These attacks suck and I feel for the books for losing out on so much action and it is not their doing. The players & book suffer alike. Hopefully it will end soon, but I would definately get my system protected cause now we will have copcats trying to extort as well.
