ok guys have been rolling along nicely here especially in the conference I know best The Pac Ten. ASU has come up big for me this season but I am going against the school I know best this week and am on the Ducks!.ASU off two very big home games,( i was at both) and now must take to the road to face an Oregon team that I am sure had this one circled as they got crushed by the Devils last season. Oregon had 7 turnovers in their loss to Indiana and have not played their best game as of yet.I don't think Oregon is that great this year but I like this spot, that it is at home and that revenge is involved in a big way.in addition ASU is playing a RB with a broken for arm and are down to a walk on as their backup.Losing Loren Wade At RB hurts this team as they need a solid running game to get the passing game in high gear.We all know what happens when Walter is clicking but it will be difficult when teams are not respecting the running game.In my heart I would love to see ASU win this one but it is going to be a very difficult task. With that being said I still think the Devils will have an 8 win season and go to a bowl game.Gotta go with the yellow and green this week.Ducks Prevail.

Oregon -2 10 Units******

I was on THE DEVILS in This One....

I was taking ARZ ST. again this week as they have been one of "my hot teams" this year. But after seeing PROPHET< "THE WEST COAST GENIUS" on The Ducks, I'm laying off!
Not sure I'll be backing Oregon, but too much respect to go against The West Coast Man!

Thanks---GAMECOCK

thanks teddy that was a very intelligent and well thought out reply.I am not even going to respond to that as to many people here know what I have done in the Pac Ten including this season with some big wins.if you are on ASU good luck but no need to be such a chid about it.if I lose I lose but show some respect.:neenee:

Proph,
This game looks pretty solid. The spread is alittle confusing though, not sure what to make out of it. I don't know about you but I have Nov. 6 circled on my calendar as a huge day in the Pac 10 (Beavers win) check it out.

Cal-6.5 -120

to much for OSU to handle here and Cal puts an end to their 5 game losing streak to the beavers.Cal will not be looking ahead to USC as they need to have a strong win before to build momentum!

And, oh, wouldn't the Ducks like to do just that.

"They rolled us last year," Duck guard Nick Steitz said. "We owe them something."

Even if ASU weren't ranked 21st and this weren't the Pac-10 opener for the Ducks, it figured to be a game they would be pointing toward after the 59-14 humiliation they suffered last season to the Sun Devils.

"The team that went down there last year wasn't the Ducks," senior lineman Adam Snyder said. "We've got something to prove to them and everybody else."

Mostly, though, to the Sun Devils. A pair of Oregon turnovers set ASU up for a 14-0 lead in the first 2 1/2 minutes of the 2003 game, and after the Ducks pulled within 24-14 in the third quarter, the Sun Devils scored the game's final 35 points to make it a rout.

"We kind of fell apart," UO linebacker Jerry Matson said.

Particularly galling was ASU's final touchdown, in the final 30 seconds when, ahem, some teams choose to let the clock run out. Not the Sun Devils.

"I thought that was unnecessary but if you allow that to happen, that's what makes you feel bad about it," UO coach Mike Bellotti said Sunday in his teleconference.

It wasn't just the late score, but the fact the Sun Devils successfully passed on three third-down plays to keep that drive alive in the final minutes. There was intent, with a 52-14 advantage.

"I remember that as, I want to say (a butt-kicking)," UO tailback Terrence Whitehead said. "It was a beating, and they ran it up on us. If someone beats me up, I'm going to come right back and try to beat them up."

Yes, the Ducks do seem to remember that hot October afternoon in Tempe.

"I don't know if we gave up some or they ran it up," Whitehead continued. "Regardless, they put up 60 points on us so I'm looking to put up 60 points this week."

Easier said, obviously, than done. The Sun Devils are 4-0 for the first time since their unbeaten regular season of 1996, and thoughts of another run to the Rose Bowl are building. Behind senior quarterback Andrew Walter - "Andrew Heisman," as the sign in the stands read Saturday night - the ASU offense is clicking along at 35 points and 420 yards per game, both less than the Sun Devils have averaged against the Ducks with Walter at quarterback the past couple of seasons.

"He's got to be licking his chops," Bellotti said. "We have to say, `How can we change that?' "

And? "You'll have to stay tuned," the coach responded, though he offered a couple of familiar antidotes for a passing game: a strong pass rush and tight coverage.

No quarterback in the Pac-10 has lit up the Ducks quite like Walter, who two seasons ago set a conference record with 536 passing yards as ASU rallied from a 21-0 deficit for a 45-42 win over a 6-0 Oregon team. And then last year, it only took 316 yards and two more touchdowns.

"The last couple of years ASU has had our number," Steitz said. "They've played a heck of a game against us two years in a row."

The Sun Devils will apparently be down to their No. 3 tailback, with starter Loren Wade suspended indefinitely before the win over Oregon State and backup Randy Hill now lost to a torn knee ligament in that game. That leaves it to Hakim Hill, who is playing with a broken arm bone, protected by a padded cast.

"Fighting adversity is one of our team mottoes this year," ASU coach Dirk Koetter said after the latest ASU victory.

Oregon's motto will continue to be ball security. The Ducks, after two lost fumbles against Idaho, are minus-five in turnover ratio this season, a shocking contrast to ASU's plus-10 margin in that category, forged on no lost fumbles and only two interceptions. That ratio of takeaways to giveaways (in interceptions and fumbles) is the most important statistic in football, Bellotti reminded reporters Sunday.

Bellotti said the only way the Ducks could increase their emphasis on ball security would be "go live all the time" in drills. "And I'm thinking about it," he added.

If ever there were a week, this is it with the Sun Devils coming to Autzen. "They're playing much better defensively, and with greater intensity ... flying to the football," Bellotti said. "They're doing a very good job of taking care of the football and getting takeaways, which has been a key to their season."

P-Picks,

Always enjoy and respect your analysis. I believe that we have been agreement on most of the PAC 10 games so far this year. With that said I have to disagree with you here. My analysis points to ASU as a winner straight up in this one. I know it is a revenge game for Oregon and that will motivate them but all my stats are pointing to ASU. Not going big but am playing 2 units on ASU +3.

WIth you on Cal, but would be interested in your thought on UCLA/San Diego. I'm leaning UCLA but have not decided if it is going to be a play for me.

I read that UCLA was dealing with a few injuries? And one of there players just got suspended. I'll look for the article online and post it here... I remember thinking to myself at the time, that altho the number looked attractive, UCLA may not be at full strength this saturday.

Justin London was the linebacker who was injured:

UCLA is 18-0-1 against San Diego State, but this is a dangerous game for a team that still has plenty of questions.

The Aztecs nearly won at Michigan and play good defense. Last year's game -- a 20-10 UCLA victory -- was tight. One bonus for the Bruins' beleaguered, young defensive line is they'll be facing an offensive line that is even younger and more beleaguered. Two starters were lost in the win over Nevada, and the Aztecs have only six scholarship offensive linemen, one of whom is a 6-foot-7, 240-pound freshman who is hoping to redshirt. The line already features two redshirt freshmen.

The Bruins might see if they can handle San Diego State without ailing linebacker Justin London, who has been hampered by an persistent ankle injury. London is questionable, but it might make sense to hold him out to rest for Pac-10 play.

While the Bruins should be rested after a bye week, coach Karl Dorrell said he's not expecting any miracles on defense. A lot of time was spent focusing on scheme and assignments, but there's no substitute for experience. "We can only address what we have," Dorrell said. "We have young players playing."

PP,

Pretty much wrote the same thing about this game in my thread on Revenge games this weekend. Ducks really looking forward to this one, not just returning players but coaches as well. Also don't like what's going on inside our program. I keep hearing grumblings as I posted in your thread before the Iowa game and then I found out that 1 player has been suspended and that a couple others (1 starter/2 significant backups) are on thin ice. Not sure if you have heard the same.
I hope to get a bit more info tomorrow and will pass along. I see Ducks in this one but more concerned about the rest of what I was hoping would be a nice bounce back season.

I'm with you on the Ducks but I have problems with Cal at Or.St. because I think the Beavers will be up to playing a better game at home. Their only problem seems to be holding onto the ball otherwise I see them with a 3-1 record and a major upset under their belts. Forget all that coulda woulda shoulda at home because at Reiser Stadium they will be tough. They beat a good Cal team last year with a lesser defense than they have now. Three home games circled on their calendar in the clubhouse. Going into the season, this is one of those games. Head to head this will be a war... both teams are huge in front (edge to the Beavers) but most of the speed is on the Beaver side of the line. The public has already bet the line up to 7 from 2 where it started. I wonder how wrong can the linemaker be? I'd be very careful of piling on here.
