Had a great day yesterday and look to build on that today. having said taht, I dont really like the overall card today, but there are some real nice pickem games today that I like. Plays range from 1 star to 5 stars
1. LA Dodgers -128 with listed Penny 3 stars
This is a real strong play for me today! Penny has been rolling all year long. His record for the season is 7-1 with a meniscule 2.34 ERA. In his last 5 starts, his record is 4-0 with a tiny 1.82 era. Now the Dodgers have not been great baseball of late, hence the low juice on this pick. If Penny were pitching on the Cardinals, his road juice would be close -200 or so. Thompson is pitching for San Diego. He has 2-2 record with an ERA of 4.67 for the year. This wont be a provided play here, but I am also playing this game under as well as taking teh Dodgers on the runline at -1.5 and +125
2. Boston under 10.5 runs - 1 star Radke and Wakefield conditional
Not a real big play here, but these pitchers are pitching very well of late. And in Minnesota's last 2 games they have limited their opponents to all of 2 runs. I absolutely hate Tim Wakefield as a pitcher, but he has been hot in his last 3 starts with a 2.05 ERA. Likewise, Radke has been looking shades of his old self with a 2.41 era in his last 3 games. Not a big play, but I see no more than 7 runs in this game, easy winner. The total might make it to 10 by gametime
3. Chicago White Sox -103 2 units
White Sox are starting to get back to the pace that they were setting earlier in the year! They have won 7 out of their last 10 games. Meanwhile, Texas is only 5-5. Vazquez is on the mound for Chicago. Vazquez is 7-3 for the year and 3-1 in his last 5 starts. But Padilla starting for Texas is the main reason to take this game. Padilla has an ERA of 7.16 in his last three starts. Not only are we betting the best pitcher here, but also the best team!!
4. Houston -134 - 1 unit Oswalt and Maddux conditional
This would be a 4 unit play if I were sure of Osawalt in this game. This is his first game back off of the DL. But then again, he goes on the DL every year and always comes back a better pitcher!! But Maddux pitching for Chicago may be the reason to take this play. Maddux has NOT had a great year with a 7-5 overall and an overall era of 4.68. That is NOT the same Maddux that we are used to seeing! In his last 5 starts, his record is 2-3 with an ers of 7.48. The Astros have won 6 out of their last 7 games. All but one of those wins were by 3 or more runs. They are really starting to hit lately, and pitching is working itself out with Clemens and Oswalt coming back!!
Watch out for my Astros to win the National League. The pitching is looking better lately with a bunch of rookies on the mound and the hitting has been superb. With the WIZARD coming back tomorrow and Clemens next week, WATCH OUT!!! With Pujols injured, the Stros are not looking that bad in my estimation!
