YTD: 1-2 (33%)
Reds/Cardinals OVER 8.5 (-115)
This is a battle of two struggling pitchers, to say the least. Moreover, these two pitchers struggle mightily against their respective opponents today. In his last 6 starts, Johnny Cueto is 0-5 with a 9.85 ERA, which started on July 6th when he lasted 2/3 of an inning, giving up 9 runs on only 5 hits including 2 HR's in a 22-1 loss to the Phillies. In 4 career starts against the Cardinals, Cueto has an ERA of 6.30. However, Kyle Lohse has not been any better. In his last 5 starts, Lohse has an 0-3 record with a 5.84 ERA, and is 1-7 with a 6.24 ERA since May 23rd. In 5 career starts against Cincinnati, Lohse has a 5.74 ERA dating back to his days in Minnesota. Furthermore, the combined total scores in Cueto's four career starts vs. the Cards has looked like this: 12, 10, 10, and 9. Likewise, for Lohse in 5 career starts vs. Cincy: 12, 11, 9, 10, and 13. All of those totals are well over today's total of 8.5. As a matter of fact, the total has gone over in 10 out the last 14 meetings between these two teams! Derosa and Rolen are both doubtful for this game, but Pujols is starting to heat up for the Cards, hitting .550 with 8 RBI's in his last 5 games. I think these numbers speak for themselves. Good luck to all on whatever you decide to do!
