Just came back from my first trip to CR, was out there for 11 days. 3 in sanjose and 8 in playa hermosa. The 1 thing that i would have LOVED To know was that there are flights straight from Newark to Liberia thru continental. We went down with other people that were meeting us, and i personally had to get into SanJose because of the office, but if your not going to san jose there is no reason to take that 4hour drive to the beach. A guy from New York was at one of the bars we went to, he said he was able to get non stop from newark to liberia round trip for 400. I paid about 550 to get to san jose, and then on the way back we used a small airline, fly sansa and paid 90 to fly back to san jose rather then drive. Its a long long drive,1 road, 1 lane, no signs, lol.

Costa Rica is like Paradise... Playa del coco was a great beach area for all inclusives, shopping, nightlife, wave runners, etc... You can get to all the other neat things and beaches within 40 minutes. Fuken awesome place!!

ZIP LINING WAS THE BEST!!!

Look into Hotel Parador in Manuel Antonio or Hotel Paradisus on Playa Conchal. I've taken vacations to both locations and the service is great. The food is better at the Parador but the all-inclusive was very relaxing at Paradisus and there is a lot of fun stuff to do.

I concur, Manuel antonio has all the amenities, including a theatre in Si Como No free with a set amount spent. One of the Best beaches for swimming, surfing, soccer and football, numerous bars and dining areas to watch sunsets or hide, Soccer games in Quepos by the church to get that local feel, or you can branch out to one of the small town for the campesino and or cowboy gig, horseback riding and river rafting (water is much warmer than the states) round off a great vacation. Easy roads to drive, maybe 4 hours by car from Chepe'

Just another vote.....the airport code you want is LIR .........NOT .....SJO.

There are a few things worth doing in the capital.......but at slightly 'fancy' and are probably best served for a 3rd (or 4th?) trip if you really liked the country
