Hey Chuck sorry for your disrupted plans. I bet you could get some very similar vacation bang if you were to book in Puerto Rico next year. Absolutely same or better offerings and your dollars support American citizens if that happens to be a positive factor for you

No worries man. I'm here bitching about vacay plans right? LOL Actually I was totally aiming for Puerto Rico / San Juan. Problem was I had to keep the same travel dates. Only available units left were way out of our budget. (e.g. penthouses or 5 star resorts). And all inclusive fares were thru the roof.

Thanks for the feedback fellas. What's crazy is an childhood friend of mine is in Punta Cana now. They arrived 4 days ago. We've been messaging each other and I've been following their trip on Facebook. They're living it up for Peetsakes! Tell's me they're all drinking everything they can get their hands on. (they're at an all inclusive). He did joke that he's not fucking around w/ the mini-bar. Other than that says it's a great vacation so far. I haven't show my wife FB posting cause it's just gonna screw with her head.

He warned me the other day not to cancel the trip. He's got a wild idea. He thinks it's a coordinated smear campaign fr Mexico and Puerto Rico to prevent U.S tourists from going to the D.R. Oh well. Like I said, I definitely wanna go there. Looks really nice there. We were in Cancun back in 2015. Loved it and wanted to go back. But w/ all the cartel shit in Mexico we opted for the D.R.

Goal will be to go next summer.

That was my first thought. And I thought it was deplorable, yet genius.
I had Jamaica pegged as the main culprit.

possible, but only effecting tourists? Hopefully the toxicology reports give some answers. Who knows if we will ever get the full truth.

Thats what I mean. As of today there's still thousands of tourists landing daily in the D.R. They're coming from all over. Is there a running count of deaths tourists from other countries? Why just American tourists? Somethings fishy.

There's a toursim explosion in the D.R. w/ 65% of the tourists coming from North America

Tourism Growth
Dominican Republic announced a 6.2 percent increase in 2018 for overall tourism to the country, welcoming a total of 6.5 million tourists. This growth exceeds the world average growth of 6 percent and solidifies Dominican Republic as the top destination in the Caribbean, representing 20 percent of all travel to the area in 2018.

According to Francisco Javier García, The Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, this growth is in large part to the maturity and authenticity of the country as a tourist destination.
In the first two months of 2019, Dominican Republic welcomed 604,977 tourists, an increase of 8 percent compared to this time last year. In that timeframe, 65 percent of those tourist arrivals came from North America, specifically the United States which continues to be a key market for Dominican Republic.
Hotel Announcements
In 2018, Dominican Republic saw a 6 percent growth in hotel rooms. The country added 4,365 total hotel rooms throughout various regions of the country totaling 80,256 overall hotel rooms. In addition to the flourishing additions, Dominican Republic’s hotel occupancy rate was an impressive 77 percent, a .5 percent increase from 2017.

The growth does not end there. ASONAHORES reported 65 projects are already approved for 2019 and Dominican Republic is slated to add 11 new properties between 2019 and 2022.

I've been going golfing in La Romana or Punta Cana the last 3 years - as far as I'm concerned this is fake and sensationalized news similar to a hurricane - I'm going again - my only problem so far was the guards as Casa de Campo opened the trunk to see if we had girls hidden in there

What about all of the people that are getting sick, but lived to tell about it? Something fishy is going on there and I would stay away until they figure it out

Leaving next week for Punta Cana, cant wait....media really blasting that place daily over and over about those deaths yet only 3 are a mystery so far...

And nobody is talking about Mexico and the 953 American tourists that have died there the past 3 years or
the 196 Americans that died last year. Most of them were murdered with 67 homicides. 66 died from some sort of accident, and 23 people drowned.

Heres a good report on the situation, which i believe, i've been to Europe 3 times in the past 5 years and all i heard was about terrorists and ISIS....

To make matters worse some American media, news cycles, and attendant social networks recently began to conflate lethal and non-lethal incidents from last year along with cases of non-fatal illnesses: all of which are irrelevant and inaccurate as pertaining to incidents involving fatalities and seeks to connect and entwine those events to the current suspicious string purely for dramatic effect. There are occasional breakouts of highly contagious, chlorine-resistant waterborne illnesses such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia that sicken hotel guests and these were the likely causes for the illnesses experienced by several members of a group of former students of Deer Creek High School in Edmond, Oklahoma who became unwell while on a trip celebrating their graduation. The group of about 75 former students and their chaperones were staying at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Punta Cana, where three Americans died in April and May.A group of Jimmy Buffett fans also became violently sick while staying at the Hotel Riu Palace Macao in the Dominican Republic. The Central Oklahoma Parrothead Association had 114 of its members staying at the Punta Cana resort during a trip in April. According to travel Agent Dana Flowers, 47 of them got sick, including him.“We were enjoying the beach and the pool, and about three or four days into the trip we started hearing about people getting sick,” Flowers told People Magazine. “They were getting diarrhea, vomiting, dizziness, headaches.”Both of these groups seem to have suffered “Montezuma’s Revenge” which is a colloquial term for traveler’s dysentery contracted in Mexico. The condition is caused by pathogens such as E.Coli, Cryptosporidium, Giardia, and others. There are a few waterborne parasitic amoebae and bacterial infections in the DR. As these conditions are incredibly unpleasant but not commonly fatal they should not be reported in connection with the much more serious events that have occurred in the country involving the deaths of American tourists. After all, a stomach illness could be picked up anywhere – including the US.
