Was chatting to a firiend about this and he offered me +850 for the Pirates to get 100 losses this season...which to me seems a huge price.

Currently 46-66 meaning that they only need to win 17 of their last 50 matches for this to be a loser, but I really cant see that happening ?

Any thoughts on this ?

Disagree.. I think you have the worst of it. A 17-33 stretch is ridiculously hard to do in baseball, even for bad teams!

That is 55-107 over the course of the season. It's not like they are in the AL East with NY, Bos, and TB. Half of those 50 games are against Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Houston, and San Diego.

i dont have the data in front of me but being from pittsburgh i know whats going on with the bucs....if you look at there last 50 games im almost sure that they arent above the 17 win mark....so its very possible...especially for this team and remember we are talking 8/1 odds

Yeah 8 wins out of 25 games since the all-star, and 2 in last 11 since the actual trade deadline I think.

Alright, they have to keep that loss rate up a while for the bet to win, but at more than 8/1 this seems like a no-brainer to me...figured around +450 at most if I had to price it up...

100 WINS -- THOUGHTS???

6/30/13:

The Pirates extended their longest winning streak since 2004, when they took 10 in a row. Pittsburgh reached the midpoint of its season with the best record in the majors at 51-30.

No way they win 100 games IMO. Hope they don't fold completely cause it'd be a nice story to see them in the playoffs but I can't see them winning 100 at all. They are not good enough to keep up this pace.

Yeah I recall that Elias also told us that no one had ever been at the point Pittsburgh was in last July and blown it that bad to close under .500

think they were 16 over at the time....

but yeah this year they got a much better shot
