Caught the Pirates last night at +151 on a straight wager and in a parlay that has no other losses so far... duke was pitching a gem up 3-2, then they put in mr. 5.50 era matt capps and he serves up a 2 run homer to the first batter he sees, 4-3 cards in the 8th... unF*CKINGbelievable

They suck, man... I was at the game last night, and if it wasn't for a good opponent, nice ballpark, fireworks, and O.A.R. playing after the game, you wouldn't find me watching them.... THey are just god awful right now

and for the record the first run the cards got scored because lugo went from first to 3rd on a thrown away pick off attempt, their second run scored after going from first to third on a throwing error when holliday wouldve been caught stealing....

this game is unreal, cards are barely squeaking it out, this would never happen if i was on the cards

after the homer pujols got hbp, then an infield single of course for holliday, then a wild pitch sends em to 2nd and 3rd with only one out... now a 2-0.... here comes more runs

Yeah, I was on the Bucs too. I'm not so much pissed they lost, I'm pissed at myself for not just playing the first 5. Big pitching advantage with Duke over Pineiro, and I completely forgot how awful their pen is. First 5 would have been a winner. Oh well...

How did Duke have a pitching advantage over Pineiro? Pineiro had better numbers recently and overall.

That's why I don't make bets based purely on numbers. They can be very misleading. Zach Duke is a better pitcher than Pineiro. I don't care if the numbers this year say otherwise. If Duke played for any big market team he would be a household name. Unfortunately for him, he's stuck in Pitt.

I live in Seattle and watched Pineiro struggle start after start after start when he was with the M's. He was always a "potential" guy early in his career, and actually had a couple of decent seasons, but then he got injured and just went to shit. He went from being a guy that was supposed to be a #1 or #2, to being a guy who they couldn't give away.

There was a lot of talk that he wouldn't even be able to find a job anywhere in the majors after his stint with the M's. So I have a different perspective on Pineiro than most people. The only reason, IMO, that he is putting up good numbers this year is because the NL is so weak. Maybe I'm wrong and he has somehow become a great pitcher in his 30's, but I'm not buying it.

Not to beat a dead horse or anything, but if you look at Pineiro's breakdown this is the first full season since 2004 that he's put up good numbers. And last year he got rocked even though he was pitching in the NL (ERA over 5 and a WHIP of 1.5).

Like I said before, maybe he's resurrecting his career this year or something, but I'm highly skeptical. Maybe he'll prove me wrong...

Have you watched him pitch much? He has much, much better stuff than Pineiro. I'll admit though, he is another example of a guy who hasn't reached his full potential. But he is 4 years younger than Pineiro, so I think he has a better chance of becoming a top-tier pitcher than Pineiro ever will.

I'm obviously biased when it comes to Pineiro. It's frustrating to see a guy who is hyped up to be the next great thing for your team turn into a gascan. Maybe my bias is getting in the way, but I honestly think the majority of people who follow baseball closely would agree that Duke is the better pitcher. Just my opinion though...
