First and foremost, Cards are mailing it in, going through the motions, their minds are already on the 10th tee,
Secondly, and just as important, the Cards are trotting out their version of Charlie Morton to the mound, like Morton, P.J. Walters in a AAAA pitcher.
A little too good for AAA, not ready for prime time.
Walters in six games, two starts has, get this, 23 innings pitched, given up 29 hits, 9 walks, 20 (TWENTY) runs, all earned.
ERA of 7.83 and a ratio of 1.65 (or about 15 baserunners a game)
Walters started against this very same lineup last week against Pitt, pitched four awful innings, gave up 7 hits, 1 walk, 5 runs, all earned.
Why should today be any different?
Pirate starter James McDonald will not make anybody forget about Cy Young, but is clearly the better of the two starters here.
I'm taking Pirates +146 for 2*, don't care if it goes down, because it's a very smart play IMO.
