There is a long thread on the password change, but because it ties into something I'd mentioned recently I opened a new one.
12 days ago I posted here that I was getting a popup from my OS that the Pinnacle Security Certificate "cannot be trusted." I asked anyone more savvy than I about the tech stuff if this was cause for concern.
A few replied, to the effect, "don't worry about it."
Worse, at that time I emailed Pinnacle about what it meant. Usually, you will get a response from Pin within an hour, or less. On this question - nothing, nada. Like I hadn't asked it.
I had also once noted that their customer service (other than speed in replies) left something to be desired, and proceeded to get a flurry of replies that I should shut up, that "Pinny" was the greatest thing to come down the pike since pastrami on rye.
Now I note that some posters on the other thread are stating (correctly) that Pinny dropped the ball on this one, by not in advance notifying re the pw change.
Those loyalists who are congratulating Pin for beng proactive - nonsense. I have never, I mean but never, been asked to change a pw from any of the few dozen books I've dealt with over the years. Only Pinnacle.
I'm convinced their security was compromised. It wasn't proactive - if their security was good they wouldn't worry about it. Their silence re my question was also very telling. Plus the pop-up warnings I received.
Yes, Pin is a "good book." No one can deny that. But their tech problems over the years - slow time, down time, and now what appears to be a significant security issue - has to get them a few big minuses in anyone's "book."
