Ok, then how 'bout....ok, you're right, Detroit (city) is awful. Just came from the Devils game in downtown Newark, but now we're talking different grouping. Sort of like Indiana basketball is now, different classes based on population.

Awwwshit, you busted out with Newark. Shithole city. I think you "one uppped" me on that.

you guys will never make it in this city.

stay in maryland , or florida , or wherever youre from and live your peaceful life.

the people here are hustlers, if they smell your weak, they will eat you alive. getting robbed and hustled and pickpocketed here is a way of life.these mother fuckers will eat you alive.

being born and raised in rough, big cities is a blessing in disguise.

I enjoyed my two trips to Philly when I was there. Good cheese steaks and Will SMith. What more could you ask for.

Bingo...my point exactly. You said it for me with this portrayal. I have lived in Milwaukee and have been to Philly a ton of times. My bro used to be a professor at UPenn. Passion for sports=jails at the ballpark..Doing business with a person from Philly makes New Yorkers look like they are from DesMoines. Most (not all) people from Philly are dicks.

Good post and good paint of though people in any city where things are sometimes predatory. I had my head punched into the piss yellow tiles of the 30th & Market subway station. But Philly has always been one of the best sports towns in the country including great writers on great sports pages and has a rich history of boxers, ballers, runners (the Penn Relays draw 40 thousand knowledgeable fans who got nuts over the frantic 4 X 100 high international high school races). Beyond sports, the city's architecture is simply awesome; sit down in the polished ass-worn wood benches in Penn Station and take in the echoes from both sounds and afternoon sun and you will understand. The last thing I want to read is some Florida sprout, whose claim to history and culture dates back thirty years, commenting on Philly anything.

Philadelphia is the most underrated city in America. It has an incredible downtown scene, world class restaurants, great universities and an undeniable culture. Most Philly haters have never spent more than two days in town.

Blow me! I have lived in a number of places in the country and visitied dozens more. Give me Philadelphia any day of the week.

I really have a feeling some of these people praising philly have never actually lived in the city or they wouldn't be talking like this.I was raised in baltimore and philadelphia area and I can tell you both cities have gone to absolute shit since the 1960s.absolute shit!!!!!

The 1960s and urban renewal and the race problems have ruined large parts of these cities. The 1960s and bad mayors and all the race mess just turned large parts of philly and baltimore into wastelands ,

There have been some great projects in the last twenty years like the waterfront in baltimore and some places downtown and aorund the colleges in philly but you ask anyone who grew up in Philadelphia or Baltimore before the civil rights movement and they will tell you the truth about whats happened in these places since the 60's.

I have a feeling the people praising these cities are either suburbanites or they live around the university areas.Maybe some south philly folks on here but I kind of doubt it

Well you might be right. Because as I am Not from Phily, my wife is from the Main line. So very true, I know mostly the best area in Phily.

But I do enjoy going into the city. Still stop at Pat's and Geno's when we go into Phily . ( which is about once a Month )

If you can Believe it, They Just finished fixing up City Hall ! I think it took them like 12 years. LOL

Grandpa Moses, how can you be raised in both the Philadelphia and Baltimore area considering it's a 2 1/2 drive from downtown Philly to downtown B'more?

I was born and raised in NE Philly which is definitely NOT the suburbs. After a few years of work after college, I moved to Old City (NOT a University area), and I am telling you that you are full of shit. You have no idea what you are talking about. The enitre Center City was regentrified in the late 80's and early 90's.

Does Philly have horrible neighborhoods? Absolutely. Name me a major metropolitan area without poverty. All of Mahattan is not Park Avenue, shithead. Tourists do not hang out in the Badlands North of Girard Avenue.

Philly has one of the best 3 downtowns in American.
