I don't know why I picked this guy for my fantasy football team. Yahoo had him ranked #1 but did he deserve it? No... It is surprising to see the Eagles struggle this much, however. If he could learn to play more like he did in that game he played through with the broken ankle he would be marginally better.

I just finished watching the Pats/Eagles game and it looks like there is no fight left in the Eagles, especially McNabb. He was very lackadaisical walking up to the line, tossing errant passes all over the field. This team could be in big trouble if they don't turn it around in a hurry.

Marginally better?

McNabb is not a QB who excels in reading defenses and being a pinpoint passer. However, when it comes to numbers, he posts them ... bottom line. Numberwise, his performance this year is the complete reverse of last year.

Last year, he was the best fantasy QB in the league after 10 games, and this year, he is one of the worst, if not THE worst. In fantasy football, only numbers matter. And last year he posted them.

It's easy for Prisco to say McNabb has been overrated for a couple years NOW. Of course he won't get any arguments because is playing so poorly. However, last year, when McNabb threw 17 touchdowns after 10 games last year (projects to 27 for the year), people wouldn't have been as agreeable.

Keep in mind that the McNabb of 2003, so far, does not resemble the McNabb of 2002 in any way whatsoever.

Lou,

In my opinion, the Iggles look great on defense (until the game is out of reach). But saying the offense is sputtering would be a compliment. If the offense doesn't turn it around, it'll be a very long year for the birds.

well, what, he threw 4 touchdowns in that game, in which he had 0 mobility, which leads me to believe that if he wasn't so ready to check down or just pull in the ball and run for it, they could spread the offense out more and have more sucess. Their schedule was cupcake during that 10 game run as well.

LOL Newport I figured you'd be all over that story. I've posted enough times on that anti-Eagles propaganda that Prisco is spewing and I'll clarify:

The only thing overrated about Donovan McNabb is the talk about him being overrated. Trench hit the nail on the head. Prisco gets to finally write his anti-Eagles junk now that they're sputtering. Hey Prissy it's 2 GAMES into the season pal. Where was your article in 2001 or 2002 when he goes to the NFC Championship game twice and is 8-3 as a starter before injury last year (a LOT of people forget that).

C'mon Newper I know you're ready to blast our city with another great bit of wisdom! You don't need Prisco's ramblings to do that do you?!!

Oren, their schedule was fairly easy, but keep in mind that this is the NFL. In the NFL, even the worst teams aren't THAT bad, they are still pretty good.

As far as McNabb playing better when he can't run with the ball, I'm not gonna argue against you on that one. He's very hesitant in the pocket and holds onto the ball for too long. Maybe when he couldn't run he was more effective because he turned into a gunslinger and didn't hesitate.

It's clear that McNabb's poor play is strictly a mental thing. He's played better in the past, so we know he is talented enough to play better. He needs to find his mojo ... but there's no telling when/if he'll find it.

T, that was my point. Easier said than done, perhaps. There's nothing wrong with scrambling for some yardage, but, IMO, they would be more effective if they relied on the pass first, instead of being to willing to fall back on scrambling. A couple of years ago Gannon was very dangerous in that he made a lot happen when a play broke down and he had no one to go to, he often ran for the 1st down, but, he threw the ball to his open recievers as a 1st option. Unfortunately he isn't as mobile as he used to be and that's hurting their offense among other things.

I loved when that story came, and it was the headline all day LONG

Hey I like McNabb a great deal, he is a class act and we all know he will have GREAT games again. The only problem the Eagles have had over the past three years is the Rams and the Bucs, and guess what they did not make it through that 3 year span with anything but playoff visits,

LONG TOUGH YEAR for that team. they lost key personnel, a major NEGATIVE hold out, banged up key players, no more home field advantage, andthey lost some receiver talent. Thrash is gone right? ,that was Mcnabbs boy

They will need to rebuild in the next two years andcollect key personnel to do so.

Listen tothis next statement itis the most profound

Today's NFL is like a game of Golf.

You already know after 4-5 holes what your score will be, and whether you have it today or not. They now have to live with what they have, and sell tickets, waveat the fans, spend their pay checks, and wait for next year or two,

They are not going to be a Horrible team, they are just going to shoot a 91, when they feel they should be shooting 79. Maybe another day

last year and his career so far yes he had good numbers, but alot of them playing against bad teams. against a very good defence mcnabb almost always never hada good game statistically.

alot of his numbers are misleading. alot of his completions are from dumpoffs to staly. they hardly ever stretch the def vertically downfield.also mcnabbs numbers are misleading with few interceptions because he doesnt take chances downfield always checking down to the backs.

i believe he is overated. accuracy, which he is lacking, i believe cant be learned. after all these years playing- highschool, college and pros. if he doesnt have it now, he will never get it.

aikman got alot of slack because he stated mcnabb was not a accurate passer. aikman was dead right. who really knew better than aikman, he knew exactly what it took to make a certain throw, at what time, at what break, every little detail. why because he threw and with pinpoint accuracy. of all the people in the media including ex players and coaches, he would know better.
