Phil Mickelson shot a 59 on Wednesday to win the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, matching the low score in competitive golf.

Mickelson barely missed a 9-foot eagle putt to the left on the last hole that would have given him a 58 at the unofficial event for the year's major winners. He tapped in for birdie and smiled as the gallery cheered wildly.

Al Geiberger, Chip Beck and David Duval are the only players to shoot 59 in an official PGA Tour event. Annika Sorenstam shot a 59 on the LPGA Tour.

Lefty had 11 birdies, an eagle and no bogeys to win $400,000. He putted just 23 times, including 11 times on the front nine.

Wowser that is some round of golf. wil.:103631605 :103631605 :103631605

i hate phil mickelson he is the one golfer who always screws me. wheter i bet on him or against him. i put the curse on phil starting today no majors for phil mickelson next year. nice to also see a non american dominate the us pga tour. good for vijay i am not anti american i am anti how they cover the events tiger this tiger that if someone else is leading a tournament likeretief goosen you still see tiger or americans being shown. If we get 1 look at mike weir over 6 hours of coverage it is a miracle unless he is leading than they will show him. anyway happy thanksgiving loking forward to more afternoon action. also how do you guys give bush 4 more years he sent your kids out to die. nice weapons they were looking for.

Tang - I have never been a big "lefty" fan myself and really enjoyed watching the great year ViJay had. With this kind of 4 man event anything can happen Singh, the No. 1 player in the world, shot a 66 and earned $250,000, while first-round leader Retief Goosen - the U.S. Open champ - closed with a 68 to finish at 11 under. British Open champion Todd Hamilton finished last at 1-over 145 after a 75. Basically a made for TV golf event.

As far as the politics go - no comment other than please try to keep that stuff in the Politics and World Events forum in the future.

Thanks, wil.

If Tiger's not in a tournament i lose interest-- used to be same way w/ Nicklaus.

Chauvinistic & idiotic Singh i can't stand for his Sorenstam comments....

Mickelson's still a choking ****-eater until he wins another major.

The women are the ones to watch now-- between Sorenstam & the two wunderkids...fun to watch them drive 300 yards....
