Out of curiosity, does the NFL do this after every game? Go back and review the game and make adjustments to stats?

all the time.
Stats are not official until several days after games.

If you play fantasy football you will notice this.

The NFL, through official statistician Elias Sports Bureau, makes stat corrections all the time in the days after the games from reviewing film, but this is a very unusual case. If Elias does think that this is a lateral, would they really take the record away from Manning? Or just let it quietly slide into history?

Interesting, I've never played FF so I didn't know that. Well, if it was a lateral, they have to change it.

If this wasn't Brees's record, would Chop be around for the debate?

Get ready for the Eagles game Chop...according to power ratings, the Eagles will be favored and rightly so....

I knew when they took him out after getting the record by 1 yard that was risky.
If I was Denver I would have let him throw for another 20 yards or so to make sure.

But the bottom line is it has to be changed and Drew Brees still holds the record.

At least one good thing came out not winning the division this year.

At least the Saints will be able to get there first ever road playoff win in the postseason this year.

Thats going to be nice.

I like Manning.
He won me 3K in my fantasy league this year.
Maybe I should just let this slide.

Nothing good comes out by not winning your division.....Shady will make mincemeat out of your defensive line...Ryan already having nightmares of the last two seasons when he was the DC for the Cowgirls...

only match-up that isn't a re-match.

Philly will probably be favored by @ least a FG come Saturday. Weather may be below zero degrees at kickoff.

Answer absolutely lateral, just watched video. Snapped @ Oakland 49 pass caught on Bronco's 48. So if it stands it was a 9 yard play.cockingasnook()

It should get reversed if what you are saying is true, but I wouldn't put it past anyone with the NFL to let this slide for the record

It doesn't matter where ball was snapped. It's where Manning was when he threw ball. But still pretty obvious this should be a lateral and not a forward pass.

Okay, I read this after posting........

Manning's right arm, at least from the main television angle, seemed to release the ball at Denver's 49-yard line. It looks like the ball was at the 48 when Decker caught it

strike two.

Then I guess they should take away the sack record from Strahan since Favre just fell to the ground...

that's still an official sack

running yardage is not passing yardage

PS: and I really don't care BTW

This could effect Decker passing Jerry Rice in receiving yds, more of a concern.
