There have been a lots of discussions on this group of books lately. The discussions have labored mainly on their financial strength, and what the future holds for them. Some of the negative opinions have been clearly brought on by individuals wanting to see this group fail for one reason or another. Other issues have followed about the group ranging from and not limited to such things as ownership, promos, clickandbet, payment history, customer service, and suggestions that the staff here at the RX would never say anything negative about an advertiser.

Well, lets put the last issue to rest, because as a RX staff member I will state what as I see as some negatives of RIO in recent months. For everyones information, I have been a strong supporter of this group and have been with ALL their books for an extended period of time. Having said that, it seems to me that they have had just a tad tough time handling the transition of possibly losing some key employees. Although they have never cold called me, it is obvious to this observer that they have strongly implemented this into their new marketing plan as many posters here have complained of this. Make no mistake about it, I hate phone solicitations as much as the next guy, but if I like a book this will not stop me from not being with them. Personally, as a whole, I dont appreciate books calling me so if this group would call me like they have others, I would consider it to be a minor negative. Second negative is the way they have been handling the recent clickandbet sitution. Seems like they cant decide whether to keep this site or not. On Rios behalf, I think they would be the first to admit that they have not handled this in an efficient way. Lets hope they have this cleared up now or will have in the near future. Lastly, I have been disappointed a few times recently with their site being down. This has been mainly due to the DOS ATTACKS. There you have my 3 biggest negatives I have had as a customer. To me, AND NOT JUST BECAUSE I AM A RX STAFF MEMBER, these are all MINOR things to me considering all the tremendous pluses and pleasant experiences I have had with RIO over the years.

Lets look at the positive facts as I percieve them. This group has NEVER had a reported slow pay in their history. A history that has seen them pay thousands and thousands instantly just to players winning contests!
Again, speaking from personal experiences, won $15,000 from them in a contest and was not only paid in less than 24 hours, but if I so desired I could have withdrawn the money on the spot with NO rollover. Their customer service, both in the forums and on the phone is one of teh best of all sportsbooks....and VERY PROFESSIONAL! They continue to do transfers to and from some of the biggest and best sportsbooks in the industry. What is really unique about this is that the guy from across the street that continues to flame on this group in a negative way so often......has advertising books that deal big in transfers with the RIO group. Ask yourself why this man does not spend more of his free time concerned with keeping tabs on his own advertisers. Anybody that has benn involved in the offshore business for over 3-4 years knows the POSITIVE impact that the RIO has had on this great industry. I am sorry, but anybody that doesnt see that is not playing with a full-deck. And anybody that would be willing to continue to discredit this group with no real proff is not a friend of the offshore industry.

In closing, I cannot stress enough the power of your own intuition. No one person can always be right accessing the strength and safety of a particular book no matter who he or she is. Hopefully, through mediums such as the RX forum, one can make the right choice more clearly.

Should anybody care,

Not being privey to any inside information other than speaking with Rio and a manager at another well known and respected book. I go by past experience, common sense and logic regarding the current Rio situation.

I have nothing to do with this site or any book and have no agenda other than to possibly be of some help at times to those who are
a bit newer to all of this than I am.

I once said when Fish speaks I listen. In this case, I listened and I concur 100%. FWIW, from a relative "newbie" to this forum.

The ONLY thing I heard was they were abandoning the ClickandBet site and transfering all customer funds to a Skybook account......but now have decided to keep ClickandBet.

RC,

I don't understand why so much is being made of C&B. Why is it more than minor?

Does anyone actually play there? Through all this stuff the last week or month, no one has posted that they feared for the safety of their funds. No one has said that they were being slow paid. No one has said they were paid on time. Is there anyone who bets with this book? Anyone?

Stories abound that Betworks had 150 customers (seems low but who knows). C&B has what 3? 2? 1? Anyone?

The site was down for a month and no one complained. I think no one plays there anyway. It may be embarrassing to RIO or whoever owns it. It may have cost some money to start up (may have...maybe its just RIO's lines, CS etc and only cost the registering of adomain name).

If no one plays there then what difference does it make if they scrapped it?

neilm,
i would tend to agree, if no one plays there it obviously doesn't matter. i certainly don't have any knowledge about how many customers they may have. and since no one has said a word about the current situation in the forums, i take it no posters currently play there either.

<<RC,

from what i have read (and to be honest, with so much stuff going on please correct me if i am wrong here) the website was taken down for quite a bit (some thought permanently) and it appeared as if they had closed up shop (again, not that it would matter if they had no customers). to me, that is a little more then a "minor" thing. then they popped back up, AFTER RIO had said that all C&B customers had been transfered to RIO.....except C&B comes back and says no, we are still here and plan on being here and RIO comes back shortly after and said very casually, "my mistake". that doesn't raise any flags to anyone else? i am not saying it's a big conspiracy or anything, but to me that is more then a "minor" thing.......not to mention they disappeared off this site without a word (being that they are or were an advertiser here, i think?)
