Agree with you man fats. What I would say is that Biz would be right in respect to the box score.......duke didn't score enough points to win. I'm sure biz followed the game and would be aware that one particular duke player was directly responsible for 6 turnovers that led to 21 points for the opponent. So in that regard the reality is that aspect of the game was highly anomalous and something you just wouldn't predict. So in that regard when one player seemingly screws over the entire wager, we could be entitled to think we got shafted and that on another day or in most cases when one player didn't commit 6 turnovers we would be celebrating a 5 unit win. It's anyone's guess why that player performed so unusually diabolically today.
So, maybe he can consider that before telling folk they shouldn't feel hard done by today.
Just my thoughts.
I had a guy fumble on the 1 yd line late 4Q for the cover (Florida). Another game the guy hits a 47 yd TD with 10 sec left (Tennessee). Another where the QB scrambles for 30 yds to FG range with 20 sec left for the FG, goes to OT and I push (Minnesota).
I wasn't on the right side. I don't blame the defense or a particular player for a loss, etc.. Its a loss.
In a perfect vacuum, where we do our pregame handicapping where no variables exist, it can be frustrating for the unforeseen to happen. But that's part of the deal. Shit happens.
When you lose by 2 scores, I don't care if the guy threw 6 picks. That's how he performed, its not the right side. The defense had a part in those picks, they forced them. That's part of the game too. If the team you handicapped to win the game had a guy throw pick after pick, its not the right side.
Voodooboogaloo, I'm not correcting anybody, and you can take your little kids comment and put it someplace. If you want to join the legion of apologists, be my guest.
Mnfats. You should know better, because you're a solid handicapper. There's a difference between commiserating over a loss....get em next time...and excuse making. I don't mind commiserating at all, its the excuse making and right side/wrong side nonsense.
John C,
You're assuming that without 6 TOs the game plays out the same way. It doesn't, and the defense caused those TOs.
I'm a PW fan, have given him plenty of props. Respect his skills. Sometimes we are on different sides, sometimes the same. I've got a 2U under on Clemson, he's got the Over.
I read his threads to see who he likes, and the pictures aren't bad either. If it makes you feel better to handle a loss by saying you were on the right side, when you weren't, fine.
