Hey brother... I am no expert here but someone once told me that the air comes in from left field shoots around home plate and back out to right center ?? I have never confirmed this or really explored it but that what someone told me once.. I had even heard that they use to shut the doors in the concourse behind home plate with the vistors were up almost creating a vacuum of some sorts ? Kinda like back when the Stros were in the dome selling DOME FOAM as a beer like product they would turn the AC on blast from center to stop HRs for the vistors... no idea..hahaha

Its fun to think about it but I dont know if any of it is true...

Supposedly there is a WHIPING action at Arlington that helps the ball out to RIGHT CENTER... and if you see some of the moon shots to that area...you have to go..HUH?

yeah but what causes the ball to fly out when 16-20 mph blowing in? Some kind of vortex or some shit?

they say its like a WHIP...it blows in from left...around home and SHOOTS out to RIGHT. So yes the wind is blowing IN....but back out faster....

So just guessing...wind comes in from left at 16mphs around home at like 20mphs and back out to righ tat 40mphs...haha

Just a guess. but they say that it is true ???

Thanks Pennywise I'd be interested if anyone else has any idea why this happens.

I'm not sure if you'll ever get a real answer on this.....unless you talk to some field engineers @ the ballpark. It would be awesome if someone knew for sure.....but highly doubt it.

Thanks for the well articulated response, Pennywise... I'm still tailing, but was genuinely curious regarding your thought pattern when it came to certain line movement nuances.

Hey Penny, been on rx for a while but never posted before today. You've helped me a great deal with your plays, and also with your explanations. So thank you!

Have a question for you. I followed you on the Chi Chi play last Saturday and noticed that you aren't posting tonight's game between those teams (w/the same pitchers) as a play today, even though they're playing in Globe Life Park instead of Target field. Would you mind sharing why?

Thanks again.

Line movements ?

th
this was me after the last time I heard a game I was on had a plummeting line movement... It means absolutely nothing to me unless the team missed the flight !!!

Then I might be worried. Like look at My OVER on the ANGELS game - two nights ago - I didnt ONLY FACTOR in TROUT. I was getting a ton of notes sent to me about OMG TROUT IS OUT... does it suck? yes. It sucks but the game is capped far beyond ONE player making a different.

If the ANGELS all ate BAD CHICKEN and I am left with some AAA guys... Yea, I would be worried but the games I cap are far more indepth that not one player will screw it up

Or if DR H picks the other side, who cares? who says he is right? I think we are like 3-0 when that has happened but my point is BOL to MR H... But I dont care. I am right.

:)

So, honestly, I dont pay any attention to it. I look at the wires to see if anything disasterous has occurred. Not the line.....

Today's game... The YANKS GAME or LINE got inflated making it what?? MORE VALUABLE TO TAKE THEM. Which will then bring the TRIBES GAME DOWN and thus becoming more valuable. BACK AND FORTH BACK AND FORTH...

My only suggestion when you see a huge line swing....GO NAP....

Interesting discussion going on about the physics of wind in baseball parks -- I too have heard several references to counter-intuitive ball flights in certain stadiums. Would love to hear from someone with some physics acumen attempt to explain it.

I was surprised to find that the proper orientation of a MLB baseball park is actually addressed in the rule book: Rule 1.04 states: "[FONT=&quot]It is desirable that the line from home base through the pitchers plate to second base shall run East-Northeast."

DP....

I felt 10.5 or 11 was too high in this spot.. now grant it they scored like 22 last time out.... but I just didnt get a feel for that high of a score with the TWINS AWAY FROM HOME...and in Arlington tonight..

When I vetted it out I have CHI CHI responded far better to the twins than the beat down a week ago...

Hope that helps my brother
