Maybe old news but here it is
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- A Penn State football player was arrested Friday and charged with raping a woman at her on-campus apartment.
Austin Scott, 22, was arraigned on charges of rape, sexual assault and aggravated indecent assault. All are felonies.
Scott, a popular starting running back, declined to comment as he left the courtroom.
The alleged victim told police said she was raped in a Nittany dorm complex room in the early morning hours of Oct. 5. Police said the woman met Scott at a bar earlier that night.
Scott's lawyer, Joseph Amendola, said the "interaction" with the woman was consensual.
Coach Joe Paterno suspended Scott later that day, saying the tailback had violated an unspecified team rule. Scott remains enrolled at Penn State.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday. Stay with Channel 6 News and WJACTV.com for continuing coverage.
