Your Monday Message from the Libertarian Party: [FONT=Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]

I was going to chat with today about what we really need to stimulate the economy.

But then Nancy Pelosi had to go and say children are a burden and a lot of the poor ones should never have been born.

In fact, she said it twice just in case you didn’t hear her the first time.

She was on ABC’s This Week last Sunday, discussing the Democrats’ $825 billion so-called “stimulus package.” The conversation didn’t really get interesting until host George Stephanopoulos asked Pelosi about some of the more ridiculous items in the package, like $200 million for contraception, and how that creates jobs.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus?

PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those - one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.

STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that?

PELOSI: No apologies. No. We have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy.

So much for the notion that expanding government services fosters compassion.

Private charities treat people with dignity and love because their funds are given to them out of a desire to help people.

But as far as politicians like Nancy Pelosi are concerned, the poor and suffering are parasites feeding off a body designed to deliver votes and preserve political power.

Their numbers must be reduced to keep the host healthy. The only question is, how many can you cast off without losing the votes you need to win re-election?

The lesson learned from Pelosi’s momentary lapse of honesty is libertarianism is a philosophy rooted in compassion and respect for your fellow man. The voluntary exchange of goods, services and charitable giving creates a country where health care and education are shared for the right reasons – because we love and respect our neighbors.

Compare that to the cold calculations of the government-sponsored welfare state. Born not out of compassion, but out of a desire to buy votes, the well-being of your neighbor becomes a mathematical calculation. How many can you serve without tapping out funds for people who can buy you even more votes? How many can you cast out into the street, or in Pelosi’s case prevent from ever existing, before they stop voting for you?

I’ve volunteered in homeless shelters, schools and my church’s food bank. I’ve never once heard anyone grumble about the number of people we help and propose we do something to prevent them from ever existing.

So as you go out into the world this week, take a moment to share Pelosi’s cold calculations with your friends.

Would they rather a taxpayer-funded welfare state where the government controls the population to keep the system from collapsing, or a community of volunteers who realize the poor and suffering are friends and neighbors in need of a little help?

The compassionate choice is theirs by supporting the Libertarian Party.

I for one agree with the poster about the Illegal Mexicans but i also agree with Polosi sentiments as well. Call it cruel, call it unjust call it what you want but the reality is she has a point. dont get it twisted... Im not advocating a state abortion/birth control expansion. However, If you look at it logically, you should be able to see this clear as day. Poor people tend to be less educated (TEND to). So therefore it creates a vicious cycle. Not real hard to understand. Tired of this PC bullshit. Bunch of pussies.

She's telling it like it is, which - though shocking for some - is quite refreshing.

If I were King for a Day, I'd sign into law that if a female reaches age 21 without either a high school diploma or a GED, she must have a tubal ligation. I have no problem with it being paid for with tax dollars. Would be a huge savings compared to the state costs of paying for 18 years of a child brought into the world by uneducated and/or illiterate mother.

Bar,

That doesn't sound like you. Very unconstitutional.

I don't disagree with the proposal, just irked that it's coming from someone who has five kids of her own. Rewind the clock 30 years, do you think she'd be in favor then?

I don't support mandated abortions, in the manner done by China.

But I'm to the point where I'll support reducing pregnancies among uneducated and/or illiterate women by almost any means neccesary.

Increased access to state funded abortions; increased access to state funded tubal ligations; increased access to state funded vasectomies for males.

I'd be willing to pay males a tax-funded bounty for getting vasectomies, especially in the inner city and rural areas of the USA where education levels and literacy are lower.

Have no idea how my proposal would violate the US Constitution.

As for Pelosi, her kids weren't born to parents who were illiterate, in poverty, or both.

Elitist? Hell yeah. I draw the line at being able to get either a high school diploma or a GED. If you're not "elite" enough to meet that standard, say hello to forced sterilization.

Barman shows his true colors. He's a rabid pro-abortion activist, but
he's really not about the rights of women, he's all about pushing
his own personal agenda, as you can see from the above post,
which is as far from being constitutional as anyone could imagine.

And don't get me started on our needing to erect some strong social barriers against people who are 200+ lbs overweight.

Can I get an AMEN, Brother Fletch?

This isn't fucking China. And you can't argue this, and then complain that betting is illegal.

I could just see the fake and forged diploma's/GED's coming. The idea may cause more to administrate that we care to imagine. Additionaly our already low education standards may drop even more to cater to these kids in hopes of allowing them to graduate so they can reproduce.

ZIT, your critique of my above posts is not without merit.

But I'm unashamedly demanding that in the 21st century USA, a female (and males) must meet some kind of minimum standard to enjoy the right to manufacture new consumers.

Would have no problem extending that to females who are caught in the country illegally. Forced sterilization so you can't pop an anchor baby.

Show up at a hospital as a pregnant illegal immigrant?

Instant state funded abortion.

Since I have no trouble placing a bet and collecting when I win, I've never once complained that "betting is illegal"

And I think people should have to take IQ tests to vote...

She does not want the people to have more babies cause it cost to much money to feed them and to educate them. Also, more babies add to the global warming problem. This not be good in my opinion. I say let the babies be born.

The PC crowd as all but put everything logical (when it comes to tough topics) in the taboo box labeled "do not open, someones feelings might be hurt here". If you want logical solutions to real problems, you have to break out the logical stick to do it. Logic says if you are obese, something is wrong. You have a condition other then being an overeating porky, then fine - prove it, document it and treat it. If not, you (long with all the other fatty boom booms) better start paying higher health insurance premiums. If your fit and active and do what you can to keep healthy, you should be entitled to a discount. Seems to me this is the free market approach.

As far as the population goes, this isnt sustainable. Dumb people are outnumbering smart ones. Lets fix this.
