Would you pay a monthly fee to use facebook? And if they did charge a fee think about the revenue they could generate. If even half of the supposed 500 million members paid $5 a month its mind blowing how wealthly this company would be.

I personally would not pay anything for facebook but I am sure that many would.

It would completely kill their business in the long run though. They'd end up like myspace.

If they charged a penny for it, I'd be more than happy to kiss it goodbye forever. It

Not sure where you heard that, but I read that FB just passed google as the most visited site on the internet a month or two ago. No one is ditching it at all. Incidentally, anyone want to take a crack at what other sites are in the top 10 besides FB and google without looking it up first?

Social media has revolutionized the way we communicate with friends and family. I can't understand why myspace went south so fast while FB is still going so strong...although FB is going to have to reinvent itself somehow to stay ahead of Google plus (anyone try that yet?)

ur paying for it right now basically.

there is tons of ads on the site and they get 1/10 of a cent per view and 10cents a click.. no one(u think) clicks.. but plenty view 100s-1000sof pages/pics/postings etc a day and therefore facebook makes roughly 1-2$ a day off each person on their site :D

also they sell powerups and spins/etc for all their games.. for every 50people who would never buy, 1 or 2 do.. its plenty of income for them im quite sure.

I don't see it happening, but Facebook is worth $5/month to me for sure. But only if it didn't cause everyone to leave en masse.

This has been my experience, too. Never had one, don't want one. Anyone over 20 used it hard when they first got on, but it does get old especially since it's also revolutionized the effectiveness and the way people argue and fight. For the young crowd it, imo, looks to be some kind of show off sport to see who can get the most friends. 1000 friends is absurd, especially when the human mind isn't designed for so many relationships, not to mention there's barely enough time in a day to keep up with 10 people. The one exception that I've seen adults maintain some kind of regularity with it is when they have office jobs with lots of free time (sportsbooks, and from what I've seen it's almost like semi-porn for dudes). Otherwise, looks to me to be a kiddie toy.
