Obviously Jameis Winston is not Tom Brady. No one will replace Brady.

But the Pats need to start somewhere. Cam was not even close to the answer. His accuracy sucks and he just is no longer a special talent in this league.

Winston, however still has a super arm and can run a little. He needs coaching. His coach at Tampa was Bruce Arians, a guy who loves to throw bombs. Mix that in with the fact that Tampa was often playing from behind and you get a reckless, undisciplined QB. That was Jameis Winston in Tampa.

He's now been around a while and undoubtedly got humbled by what transpired for him over the past year. Like moving on and watching your old team win the SB as soon as you moved. Like being hired in New Orleans to back up Drew Brees and then when the need arose it was Taysom Hill who Payton chose to go under center.

I think he may be ready to listen to a Billy B and try to resurrect his career by altering his game to a more disciplined predominantly short game under the tutelage of the master. He still has a big upside. Much bigger than most of the other free agent QBs in my opinion. Belli can sign him cheap and see if he can retrain him. If he doesn't work out, so be it. The quest for a QB resumes next year. This offense needs to take chances if they expect to be better than mediocre. Last year they may have been the worst offense in the NFL. Get some solid pieces (like Trent Brown), resign Andrews under center, and take a chance at QB, get the skilled WR in the draft, and find tight ends who can play either in the draft or through free agency. That's my formula.

Trust me, you don't want Winston

Suffered with him since his rookie year in Tampa

He has no field vision, stares receivers down, and can't hit the broad side of a barn.

The Pats made a very bad decision bringing in Cam. We can give them a mulligan on that, but that trend better not continue. The organization is not going to be interested in rebuilding.

Belichick will be back, I heard he encouraged players to opt out, mark my words they will be in the playoffs this season

That may be true, other people have suggested such. They had 8, the second most was 3, most had 2 or less. The numbers in and by itself look funky

sCam signed today for an incentive laden contract. It's basically a 5 million safety valve.

There is still room for another QB to start the 2021 season or for a rookie to be drafted who could finish the 2021 season.

Lots more work to do to put this team together.

Chop thinks Jameis Winston is not only staying in New Orleans but will be their starter. If that's true we won't be seeing Winston here as I hoped.

You think Belli would trade up for Fields, metro? That's not his style.

Do you like Fields?

Long time (pre-Brady) Pats fan here...

What do you think about Trey Lance? I feel like he’s got more upside than Fields or Jones. Also if they’re rolling with Cam he’s got a similar skillet to what they’ll probably be doing with Cam this year.

I'm not a Fields guy. I was responding to metro to see if he saw something that I don't.

As for Fields or Lance, I don't believe that Belli would ever trade up to get a top 5-10 player. Something he would have to do to get Fields or Lance.

Now Jones is a different story. Might Belli go after Jones if he is available at 15 (which I'm pretty sure he will be)? Maybe. But I'd rather see him go after one of the two Alabama WRs, one of which may well be still on the board at 15 then go after Jones later, maybe trading into the bottom half of the first round to get him.

You are dreaming if you think Jones will be there at 15.
He will probably get picked ahead of fields at this point.
The odds of that are at least even money

metro wants the Pats to lose and lose badly, he practically has convulsions when he sees someone with a Bruschi jersey at the keno bar. Just legitimately detests it.

So if he wants them to take someone, he probably thinks the guy sucks
