Patriot Act - Obtaining Customer Identification
Background Section 236 of the USA Patriot Act requires lenders to implement procedures for:
· obtaining certain information about each of our customers,
· verifying the identity of each customer to the extent reasonable and practicable,
· maintaining records of the information used to verify identity, and
· determining whether the customer appears on any designated list(s) of known or
suspected terrorist organizations provided by any government agency.
Purpose The purpose of this communication is to announce the new procedure for obtaining
and submitting borrower identification to ensure compliance with Section 236 of the
USA Patriot Act.
Effective Date This policy is effective for all applications received on September 15, 2003, and
thereafter.
Borrower
Identification
A photocopy identification for each borrower must be submitted with every loan
application.
Acceptable forms of identification are un-expired, government issued driver’s
license, passport, green card, and alien card.
