The Tea Party will show up and I think they had an influence in the states Santorum just took. The thing is that the Dem's have no sense of timing. They killed bin laden too soon (for political purposes), the Occupiers are getting boring (again too soon), and Obama for God knows whatever reason decides to piss off all the Catholics out of the clear blue. And there is all the stuff before and in between. I think the Dem's are already in a panic. The Tea Party is still alive and well and you don't need to desecrate public parks to make an impact. Making an impact trumps seeking attention every time.

The GOP split is more speculative at that point. To see it, let’s examine a map of U.S. counties and how they have voted so far. Blue counties backed Romney, red backed Gingrich, green are for Santorum, while white have gone for some other candidate (or not yet voted).

Last really brokered convention decided in smoke filled rooms was Robert Taft the conservative "Mr Republican' who lost in convention to Dewey in 44 & 48 and won way more primaries than anyone else vs. Dwight Eisenhower in 1952. My dad always talked about that conventions intrigue. Taft delegates were taken away in the south by the establishment giving Eisenhower enough delegates to be nominated.

It's a pipedream but I'd love to see one of those again, better yet I'd love the convention to turn to Chris Christie as
a comprimise between competing factions. Christie more than anyone couldd shred Obama in the debates and because he's not a real conservative idealogue could win enough northern states to bring his party the election.

I don't care enough about the election and Obama to run and hide. I care about economics. I will probably defend the Republican President's economic decisions just as much as Obama's. Just like I defended Bush's economic decisions. Unlike you guys, I don't view politics as a religion.
