Got this from another site but this is a must read. If there is any truth to this then player beware. Not trying to steal someone's work just thought everyone should know.

OK gentlemen, I gave my word I'd go into more detail regarding how player ratings work when I got a chance and have a few hours before work this morning. I obviously do a large amount of my playing online and have been pretty active in the poker community(travelling tourneys and the like) for some time as many of you know, so here comes a brief description:

It's common sense that you want as many players playing as you can hence having more games to draw rake from, so certain sites simply aid the process. In real life lets say you have 50 players with a comparable bankroll, in the end the top percentage of these players will eventually eliminate the others thus lessening the playing pool(granted newbies will always be coming in and out). What player ratings do is let lesser players recoup some of their losses at the expense of those ahead of the game. There was an extremely good site on this which I was trying to find the link for, and I don't know if it was shut down or paid off or what, so am just going on all I've read/had told to me/seen.
At the beginning I'm to gather you're rated relatively high, but lets say you win a lot right at the onset. The system would then give you a rating of say "2," which leaves you open to many of those beats which are certainly part of the game, but definitely not to the extent that many of you have claimed to have experienced. Could go into countless examples, but I think you're getting the picture. This might help explain to many of you how you started so well only to run into countless two outers over and over again(such as at places that advertise at virtually every sportsbook site, something I do think was a smart move as far as where to market is concerned to their credit).
Won't go into the open use of bots and prop players that this certain site uses also as I don't want this thread to wind up missing as well as I truly am trying to give back in the poker forum, but just be careful in where you choose to play and ask around to be sure

Sammy

got it from another site didn't write it myself. Basically, i think it's saying that if you are a better player party poker gives you a better ranking which in turns leaves you more open to having bad beats to a player with a less of ranking, in order ot keep the money evenly distributed.

yup, so they would intentionally screw over the big winners in order to appease the small time losers? Wouldnt that scare off the big time players therefore losing them money in the long run? and wouldnt that lead to a bad reputation leading to an even lower membership? With the amounts of players they have they are bound to make money letting the games play fairly. There is no need for the conspiracy.

I have a "crazy" party poker story. I was playing the 3-6 table, and 4 people limped in preflop and called from from the SB with pocket 4's. The flop came out 10h-8h-4s. I lead the betting and everyone calls (uh oh we have some straight and flush draws!). Anyway the turn comes Ace of spades. I bet we get 3 callers and the button reraises (probably holding a-10). I reraise and that forces 1 guy out. The river was 6 of diamonds. I bet only 2 call and i win. can you believe that? no bad beat flush draw or straight draw!

I think people need to realize that when people play online they are more willing to call bets to see a flush or a straight. So you get 6 people calling bets they have no business calling. You have people limping in with q-4s. In the end these people get slaughtered. Yes, occasionally they will burn you. And sometimes it may happen for 1 or 2 days straight. but in the long run they all end up sitting at the table with a big ZERO under their names.

also, the fact that you are plying 50-60 hands per hour online vs 25-30 per hour in a brick and mortar poker room skews your perception that more bad beats are occurrring...........happening at the same freq. , its just that they come twice as fast because you are plying twice as many hands per hour ..........

it wouldn't be smart for them to fix games. the risk would outweigh the reward. They are raking in the money, there is no need to cheat.

hey how come you're not on EF anymore?

hey nature, long time no speak. Hope you are doing well. I was booted off a long time ago for unknown reasons. It was about that time that i started to play at party poker. I now spend my free time playing at party instead of debating on elite.

Doing very well, i am not about to quit my day job yet, but its a very nice supplement.

I started at 3-6 tables and now i pretty much play 5-10 6 person max tables and the occasional $50 single table tourneys.

do you play at party?

yeah. I was kicking ass for a while, then I had like a bad 3 days and I totally lost it. I didn't lost all the money in my account but I kind of lost my edge (sounds so gay), so I stopped for a while. but I'll probably start playing sometime soon.
