Hi, everyone i wanted to know why no one has ever tried a pari-mutuel style sportsbook, it seems to me that basically everyone is out to try to balance the line and not loose money on a pass or a game, in pari-mutuel there is no loss just a redistribution of volume like at the track. Thanks a lot

There was a pari-mutual syle sportsbook in past called pariaction. Unfortuneteley, it never really made an impression in the gaming industry and is out of business.

Pro,books don't really try to write balanced action anymore. That is pretty much a thing of the past.

I used to work for that company. A major complaint is that since players were playing against each other, the odds were constantly changing depending on the amount of action that was wagered on the specific side.

Players were never able to truly know until the game started. In some occasions, they would place a bet because at the specific moment, there would have been a good payout, after a few hours and players placing more action. The odds would completely change not meeting the player's expectations on winnings or even on how much to risk.

Probably no on knows more about the pros and cons (no pun intended

of parimutuel sportsbetting.
To sum it up in a few words... Sports Gamblers like to bet on everything but the odds they will be paid. It certainly could work in any sort of closed circuit scenerio (like casinos etc) but there are many challenges to get people to trust the pools and with reason.
If anyone is interested in doing this type of wagering, please contact me as I know where you can get a deal on some software!
