Looks like she's stepping down and incomplete her 3/4 term as governor. What happened? Is she going through a personal crisis? Is she or her daughter knocked up? Is she going to finish her schooling?

Whats the deal?

King you should be happy since she's probably gonna pursue her true calling; Late Night TV and tabloid press.

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will resign

Fri Jul 3, 2009 3:42pm EDT
WASHINGTON, July 3 (Reuters) - Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will resign this month and will not run for re-election as governor, CNN reported on Friday.
Palin was Republican presidential candidate John McCain's vice presidential running mate in last year's election and rallied the party's conservative base. There has been speculation that she would seek to be the Republican Party's presidential candidate in 2012.

What's so bad about 3peet's post? I thought it was humorous. He's had other good posts too.

Maybe she has a lover and is in the process of conducting an extra marital affair with someone in Chile. Her and Mark Sanford can go in on the plane fare to South America.

Maybe it's the fact that she has had to go into debt around $500,000 to defend herself against frivolous ethics charges that have all been dismissed.

All kidding aside, it's most likely she takes off the last half of this year for family and personal time and then early next year she announces a run for the US Senate seat currently held by Republican Lisa Murkowski (up for reelection in Nov 2010).

Ms Murkowski only won in 2004 by 48% to 45% and Sarah Palin already defeated Lisa's father Frank Murowski in the 2006 Republican primary for Governor. This after Frank had lost his political capital in various scandals during his four year term as governor 2002-2006.

There's just no way in hell that Sarah Palin can be considered a credible contender for President of the United States in 2012.

But she's likely very viable to contend for that US Senate seat and if she was successful, she'd be far more influential within Washington DC for her state. Taking it one step further, if she pulled off the Senate in 2010 and was reelected in 2016, she would likely have some very legitimate Wash DC influence for the 2020 Presidential campaign, at which time she would be 56 years old. Additionally, the tard kid would be a teenager and the Palin family would have established whatever level of adequate medical and home care that is needed for him and thus he would not be an undue distraction for a 2020 presidential bid.

The above scenario takes on increased interest if all goes well and Barack Obama serves two terms and is then followed by Hillary Clinton in 2016.

I remember last year you were solidly supporting BO over Mrs. Clinton for the Dems nomination. Do you still feel the same way?

You could possibly embarrass me if you pulled up some actual posts, but my recollection is that I was fairly comfortable however that turned out.

I actually voted in the Republican primary (here in Florida) for Ron Paul, so did not cast a public vote between Obama and Clinton.

By late March it seemed almost settled and I hitched my public wagon to Obama. I am certain of one thing and that's my expressed belief last summer that Obama/Clinton would be a great ticket. Though in hindsight, I've no complaint with her as SoS.

As for 2016, I can only speculate, but if presented with Hillary Clinton as a Dem frontrunner, I wouldn't be surprised to find myself supporting her.
