</TD></TR><TR><TD vAlign=top colSpan=3>The Packers are doing "thorough due diligence" and have had "legitimate" discussions about signing free agent Michael Vick, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
GM Ted Thompson was noncommittal when asked about Vick on Tuesday, refusing to rule Vick out. CEO Mark Murphy indicated Green Bay's interest isn't sincere, but sources tell the newspaper otherwise. The Packers could offer Vick a short-term contract with minimum salaries to back up Aaron Rodgers.

Vick may be eligible to play but he has to get this "dog-fighting" issue [well] behind him. Can you imagine what it will be like the first time he plays in Cleveland. The pound will go bezerk.

The team that signs Vick is the team that has one of their top two QB's go down. It all depends on when it happens. If not, someone will sign him late in the season.
