2-0 ATS on Pac-10 Game of the week
5-4 ATS Last week (10-4) overall on all lined Pac-10 games...
This week's game of the week:
Oregon State -20.5 vs. New Mexico State
BACK TO CORVALLIS....
I bet heavily against my hometown Beavers last week, knowing they would struggle on the road against a decent opponent...but I didn't think they would embarass themselves on national TV. So now the Beavers return to the friendly, albeit butt-ugly confines of Reser Stadium to play a New Mexico State team that lost to Texas by 63 points two weeks ago. So if OSU is 1/3 the team Texas is, they should cover! Let me give a little bit better logic to go with.
OSU HC Mike Riley has some big shoes to fill with the departure of Dennis Erickson, and the grumblings within the fan base and even the print media is growing. Riley better put that fire out right now before Pac 10 play, because his nice-guy act will wear thin real soon in Beaverland. This is a statement game for MR to show he is capable of keeping this program going in the right direction, not only to the home crowd, but to the entire state of Oregon.
Look for Steven Jackson, arguably the country's best, most versitile running back, to have a break-out game. He is due for 200+ yards rushing..and is always good for 50 to 100 yards receiving. OSU's defensive front 7 is rock solid, and should shut down NMSU's rushing game. QB Anderson of course will throw two or three pics in the red zone and keeping OSU from breaking 50, but no matter here as OSU should have the ball all day long.
As for trends, OSU was 5-0 ATS against the spread at home last year, 16-3 ATS over the past four years, 5-0 ATS as DD fav at home. Why...Astro turf...team is built for speed.
Final Score OSU 44 - NMS 17
As for the rest of the pac-10 games, there are some tough teams to guage this year...USC needs more work, UCLA looked mediocre, Washington is mediocre, Oregon has the worst defensive secondary in the nation, and Arizona is perhaps the worst BCS conference team in the nation.
I'm taking Arizona State to cover vs. Utah State..and might consider Cal tonight Vs. Utah given the QB injury there. I think Washington State is tested and can beat Colorado, but worry about their psyche after last weekend's debacle/abortion at Notre Dame. Other than that, I can't recommend any other Pac 10 plays.
The rest of the Pac 10:
Cal +2 At Utah: Cal 27 - Utah 24
ASU -25.5 Vs. Utah State: ASU 52 - USU 17
WSU +5.5 At Colorado: WSU 24 - CU 20
USC -21 Vs. Hawaii: USC 42 - Hawaii 17
UCLA -10.5 Vs. Illinois: UCLA 31 - Ill 20
Oregon -11.5 Vs. Arizona: UO 44 - UA 27
Good luck to all this week-end.
