anyone who doesn't enjoy listening or watching this guy and what he might do has serious problems. He says what he means and means what he says. If only more were like this...
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen feels the same way most Twins fans do: He can't wait until the Twins move into Target Field next year.
"I want to see those piranhas next year when they freeze their tails off," he said. "I want to watch the piranhas become the sardines."
Chicago lost Monday's series opener 4-1, their 15th loss in their past 17 games at the Metrodome. Guillen joked before his team arrived in town that he would like to help change the numbers on the "Countdown to Outdoor Baseball" sign in left field.
He might get his chance.
The Twins and White Sox are trying to arrange it so Guillen will have a part today when the number of remaining home games goes from 14 to 13, which is Guillen's uniform number.
"I will do it," he said. "I will be so glad to do this."
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire has no problems with Guillen changing the number -- if he has the time to. "All he has to do is get suspended," Gardenhire joked.
"Naw," Guillen said. "I'll call time out and go out there. I know [White Sox GM] Kenny Williams will be mad, but I will do it."
Given logistics, there's little chance Guillen will actually physically change the number. He might videotape something to be played after the fifth inning, when the daily ceremony takes place.
"Not good memories of this ballpark for me, even when I was playing," said Guillen, a White Sox shortstop from 1985 to '97 who became manager in 2005. "I'm glad this is the last time I'll come to this place."
