Welcoming general discussion. I need to give a speech and have considered this topic.

Ticket pricing keep the devoted fans out who generate the market. Market driven by demand, fans create demand... fans demand great athletes, athletes demand big checks.. fans want big stadiums.. owners pay for stadiums, players and charge fans.

c'mon now fellers

Actually, I think those with the means(ability to pay the going price) generate the market vs. the devoted fans.

It's all a matter of supply & demand. It's become pretty damn obnoxious on pro sports, but hey.....as long as people keep filling the seats, they'll keep raising the prices.

You could also talk about face value vs. real value. Go heavy on the econ angle and how scalpers earn a profit by taking advantage of an imperfect market where demand exceeds supply....blah, blah, blah

Ticket brokers are getting crushed on the NFL this year. You can get tickets for half price for any NFL game and even 30 cents on the dollar in many cases. Scalpers are making half the money they once were, the profit margin is long gone with these ticket prices going through the roof and marquee games having extra charges added. Not to mention a saturated market and a bad economy.
