The most underrated player in the game is Mark Sanchez. Everyone thinks he's a failure but his 159.1 rating is good for #11 in the country. So what's the big deal about USC's offense? Among a lot of things, they've needed to use about 6 different RB's this year because of injuries. Even McKnight was hurt 1/2 the season. They ended up with like 4 or 5 guys with over 600 yards rushing. That's plenty. McKnight is playing healthy today.
And it's only a matter of time in this game when either Mays, Maualuga or Cushing will deck someone and that should be good for one very long time out for you to grab a beer sandwich and miss nothing.
But Sanchez gets no kudos. He has been dealing with probably the fastest conference LB's and CB's of whom there are enough good ones to fill up the all-American team rosters a few times over. Pac defenses are grossly underrated. You just saw 2 of them from Oregon win their respective bowls. Even Arizona's young defense played well this season. Don't think that just because 2 teams in Washington were a joke that makes the rest of the conferences defenses bad in the least way. DeWayne Walker has left for NM St. as their new HC. Oh well. There's still guys around like Mark Banker at OSU who are among the best in the country.
So don't underestimate what Mark Sanchez has had to deal with this year... and these teams know USC because they play them every year. I think Sanchez will have enough moments of brilliance to put USC some distance ahead of PSU. His skilled players will take their toll on PSU's defense. On the other hand, PSU will need to move the ball vs the stingiest defense in the country.
USC will do what they always do in big OOC games.
You don't need to ask what that is but you might need to ask yourself why you would want to be the next in line when everyone else for the last 7 years that's given USC's opponents a chance like you has been embarrassed?
